Letters left at the Pastrycook's ... Illustrated by… di Horace Mayhew
Fantastic original coloured cover bound in. It shows various envelopes and stamps and postmarke. The inscription Charlotte Crigan is prominent on the preliminaries. The fictitious letters are hilarious with some great customs such as the school putting girls not into pairs but giving each other a husband, and names such as Miss Plodder, Miss Suetts, Susan Carney 'with hair the colour of blotting-paper, Fraulein Pinchinhertz, etc.
