A speculation on what it would mean to be able to make any one wish you wanted, and on the nature of magic, life, the universe and everything. Spike Flecker is a young art student living in Paris on an allowance from his fond shopkeeping uncle in Minnesota who is given a ring by a young witch that will grant him any one wish he makes wholeheartedly. Neither he nor the book is as profound as their conceit, and the young woman would be wise to avoid this man who so frequently raises his hand to strike or grips too forcefully.… (altro)

A last Thorne Smith humorous fantasy completed after his death by Norman Matson. It involves a staid young man who marries the passionate witch of the title and finds a much livelier life. This I bought used because I liked some of the others in my father's collection.

Disappointing effort. The witch of the title could have liberated Mr. Wooly from his priggish life into one of self discovery. Instead she settles down to enjoy his fortune, deprive him of peace of mind and destroy his chicken yard.
