I enjoyed reading this book because it was a co-ed soccer team that loves soccer together and plays by five important rules. It reminds me of when I used to play soccer with my classmates. I would incorporate this book into my classroom because it talks about friendships and working as a team. It also shows that every problem has a solution and that working together is important. This is also a series, so if my students like it, they can continue to read about these kids on their own.

Brilliant ideas. Well, not for all the pages to be filled. Nice storytelling. Until I got bored on page 98 or so.
Loved the first few pages, didn't like the drawings too much, still read through it- it's one thing you can do when looking for some entertainment.

So, this book is about soccer and friendship in a nutshell. Diego wants to play with the wild soccer bunch while his father wants him to play for the furies (another soccer club). I liked soccer so I immediately knew I was going to like this one. The author introduces a moral conflict which Diego must solve and this teaches kids a moral lesson. Great book for all ages! :D

The Wild Soccer Bunch Book 2 Diego the Tornado

This is the second book in the Wild Soccer Bunch series.
In this new book there is a new boy in town who wants to play on their team
The problem is that the boy's father a famous soccer player doesn't want his
son to play with a bunch of kids he wants him to play with a real soccer league
It is up to the Wild Soccer bunch to learn what it means to be a team and a friend.
This is a great book about the power of teamwork and friendship. I would recommend this book to any
young adult who likes soccer, friends, and a good laugh. My four children all read this book and they loved it!

As a public school librarian, I was interested in reviewing this book to see if the series would appeal to my 3-5th grade students. However, I wasn't sure how good of a judge I would be because I don't read a lot of sport-related novels myself. The partner of a soccer fanatic, I know how exciting MLS can be for some folks, so my guess was this book would be a good fit for any young boy or girl who liked to play soccer, with or without dreams of being an all-star soccer player. Whether or not it would appeal to non-soccer fans was another story.

Masannek puts young readers directly into the shoes of a very young soccer player who shares a very big dream with his best friends, all members of a self-proclaimed, wild and crazy Wild Soccer Bunch. Without bogging readers down with too much active detail, his fast-paced, easy-to-read plot and simplistic dialogue guide the story of Diego's trial and transformation as an asthmatic who goes from being afraid of losing his spot on the team to taking charge of a team crisis, the point in which when his teammates' dreams need rescuing from the trash when the Wild Soccer Bunch is insulted by an MLS player who happens to be the father of the new kid in school. This chapter book is laced with humor and some nuggets of wisdom about being a true friend, sticking up for your beliefs, and daring to be better than your best.

All in all, I was not surprised that I would find the book appropriate and fun for my students. What surprised me was how much I could enjoy reading it for myself. Although some of the instances of parents taking a backseat to the desires of children who won't take no for an answer seem a bit fantastical, at the same time, Masannek has painted a likeness of real children who conceivably imagine themselves willing away the rules and limitations set by the adults around them when it comes to making a dream like becoming an MLS player a reality. Children may more easily accept the situations presented in the book with less of a critical eye for fallacy than I as an adult tend to use. I think it is safe to say that this is the kind of book that can transcend the age group it was designed for. Adults, even those with very sophisticated tastes, could have some fun with this book, and it is certainly a good book for parents to read aloud with their children!

Fabio moves to town and hits it off with Diego and his friends. A fan of soccer, he wants to join the Wild Soccer Bunch. His professional soccer player father, however, has different plans. He makes his son to join the Furies, one of the best youth soccer teams around. To prove the father wrong, the Wild Soccer Bunch faces off against the Furies. Will they win?

A fun, quick read for soccer fans. The characters are fun and likable. The plot holds the reader’s interest okay. Readers who like soccer, realistic fiction, and friendship will enjoy reading this book.

My 11 year old daughter read the first book in this series several times. She's only read this second book one time so far, but she enjoyed reading about soccer (her favorite sport). As I read through this book, at first I was disappointed, but as the story went on my opinion of it went up. I think the lessons which the author is seeking to impart are important ones, and are all too often neglected in the world of youth soccer, at least in the USA. I like that winning mattered, but it wasn't what mattered most. The relationships between the kids, and the growth they undergo as they come together as a team and as friends matter most. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a kid who loves soccer.

This is the second book in the series about a group of boys who love soccer and are really great friends. The soccer team's name is the Wild Soccer Bunch, and this book is told from Diego's point of view. He loves being part of the Wild Soccer Bunch, and wants nothing more than to continue playing with them until they reach the major leagues. Diego has a few problems that he needs to work through though, he has asthma and lives in the fear that his team mates will eventually not need him since he can be a liability for the team. Then Fabio shows up at school, and Fabio's father is a famous soccer player from Brazile who just transfered to the major league soccer in the US. Diego is worried that Fabio will take his position on the team, but worse than that Fabio won't play with the Wild Soccer Bunch and Fabio's father tells the Wild Soccer Bunch that they are not a real team and that his son is too good for them. From here, it's up to Diego and his team mates to prove that they are good enough, and that they have the heart and talent to be professional players.
I really enjoyed this book. I will say that I had not read the first book in the series, and did not have any trouble keeping up with the second book. From reading this book, I'm a fan. It's cute, fun and I love the way the author dealt with the family dynamics of the boys. This is a series that I will be encouraging my son to read and anyone who loves soccer and knows kids who love the game, I recommend this book. I'm going to have to go get the first book and keep an eye out for the rest of the series.½
