Little Red Riding Hood is a traditional story. Little Red goes to visit her granny and bring her food and medicine. Along the way she meets the wolf and tells him where she is going. The wolf decides he wants to eat Little Red and her grandma so hurries over to Granny’s. He eats the grandma whole and then Little Red too when she arrives. A huntsman goes to visit granny and finds the wolf. He cuts open the wolf’s belly and out pops Little Red and Granny.
I am always amazed at the violence in some traditional children’s stories and this book is no exception.
I would read other folktales or moralistic tales to the students and discuss what the moral might be.
