Originally published in German in 1965, this was translated inot English and published in the US in 1967. It's so perfectly a '60's thriller. Hitchcockian, gothic-y beautiful young woman with a ark mysterious past, an uncertain future and a present in which no one is quite what they seem. They don't write books like this anymore.
