Marni Mann has done it again and Mr. Wicked kept me up all night laughing, sighing, and fanning myself. With a style that has a driving beat with just enough pauses to to build that subtle tension and offer a great point they of rest, Mann has again written a book I could not put it down.

Greyson and Jovana owned my heart and this book, which might just have edged out The Hook Up as my favorite. From their first meeting to the last page, this is a book that just consumed me because the banter, the connection, and romance are perfectly blended with misunderstanding, spice, and that frission of a connection that are the hallmarks of Mann's style. I have been waiting to see how Greyson's story would play out since I first met him in Book One, Mr. Hook-Up, where he stole every scene he was in. I knew this would be a fun read...and I knew Easton would return the favor because Mann does such a great job of creating a world for her characters to live in that it feels comfortable returning to these friends and the company.

This is a duet of interconnected standalones, so if you are new to this author or this series no worries. You can jump right in with this fun, spicy and totally relaxing romantic escape!

I am always so excited when I see a new Marni Mann book. I know I will always get a great romance, super sexy scenes, and a pair of lovers that will not only spark but fight that initial shock of connections - especially with the Spades who are the consummate playboys. This book begins no different but adds a wonderful, although Rowan knows how He is.... Cooper is blissfully unaware that She is The Enemy. And here is where hidden identities and family rivalries blend to turn our lovers into enemies. Watching Cooper fight this knowledge while still being attracted to Rowan, and following as Rowan fights to show that there is more to her than meets his eye and build back on their original connection, was a wonderful story. I really felt as if I was learning about them both here, not just on the obvious levels of a story but leaning who they really were to each other. Cooper and Rowan have a wild Ride in the story that I was delighted to follow along. They were the perfect pair and truly a match for each other in the bedroom and out. There is so much more to this story than I have here, but I don't want to spoil anything for you.

A scorching enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, billionaire romance from USA Today best-selling author Marni Mann …

Thank You @valentine_pr_ and @marnimann for sharing this arc with me

I read SIncerely, Dane by Ilsa Madden Mills and this short story was such a sweet read.

This is a cute and fun novella that is part of anthology and I hope will eventually be a full length story. Dane and Piper went to school together from high school on and now that Dane’s twin bother is married to Piper’s best friend they end up spending a lot of time together. Piper has always crushed on Dane but believes he has her firmly placed in the friend zone that she just accepts their relationship as is until one night a text makes her think about more. Dane hasn’t had it easy in life, he derailed at one point, and his relationship with Ari fizzled out because deep down I truly believe he’s always felt like Piper was his. In this story Dane comes to Piper’s apartment dressed as a werewolves and so the chaos ensues. He recruits her to help with a scavenger hunt that ends with an epic ending/beginning. The tension between them was tangible, the chemistry off the charts, and the can they will they flowed off the pages. I rally hope we get more of their story!!

No one writes high octane sensual prose the way Mann can and this books proves that yet again!

I have loved every book she has written and cannot say enough about her imagination and ability to write wonderful banter for characters who will in equal measure frustrate, enchant, and delight you. If you are new to Mann, this is the perfect place to jump in because, even though all her books can be read as interconnected standalones, this first book in a new series about the Spades and their Hotel Empire. However, for those like me who fell in love with The Daltons, the little cameos that they have will bring a welcome warmth and smile to you. In the Playboy, we first meet Macon Spade when he was still in college and recovering from a breakup with a one night stand and follow along as the Player Reforms and meets his match. With a perfectly executed He Falls First, Fast and Hard trope Mann gives us a hilarious view as we watch Him work for Love this time around. Simply put, I found myself falling hard and fast for Macon from page one, because I understood him so well and saw him so clearly. He's not perfect, but neither is his love interest Brooklyn and that's what makes a Mann books so much fun to read... real people in the face of the messiness of Love. Yes, this is a fun and very hot Rom Com, but these are real people with flaws and personality quirks that makes them each jump off the page in their own right, but when you put these two together their chemistry and connection are off the charts and you can't look away. A wonderful escape reading for when you need a break from the world The Playboy sucked me in and I can't wait for the next book in this series to come out!

I knew in 2 chapters that this was one of the most poorly written things I had ever read. That is not just books, but all things. In a world filled with barely literate life forms who have no lives outside of their homes posting their every thought, this book was one of the worst written things I have ever read. It is actually kind of impressive when you think about it.

I was listening to this in the background and it was skipping between time periods.

I wasn't following it so I gave up ... in the absence of anything that grabbed my attention sufficiently to warrant starting the book again.

Mr. Hook-up by Marni Mann
Hooked #1

You know that perfect book-boyfriend and his perfect romance? Will, this very well could be the one – or at least one of them – that I will remember for quite a while. Sighing as I think about the perfect match at 100%, the glitch and time away, and then…well…as with most romances…there is a happy ending. BostonLifer and SaarasLove so deserve the happiness that I see in their future…can’t wait to see what happens as the series progresses.

Okay, I thought this was my first read of a book by Marni Mann BUT found that I had read at least one book by this author in 2016 and thought, “As much as I loved that book and now this one, why didn’t I read more of this author’s books?

What I liked:
* The premise of the story with the upstart company trying to make it big while providing hookups for themselves
* Meeting the men that made it happen (later in the book)
* The way the first of the triumvirate, Easton Jones, finds he has a 100% match with SaarasLove and how he wonders how that will play out – and definitely not as he expected
* The heat generated in the opening and how it was…kind of sad…for a bit
* And then…the rest of the story that had it all
* The tech part of the story since I have relatives working in the field and it made me wonder…
* The friendships of Easton, Grayson, and Holden as well as the one between Drake and Saara
* Wanting to know more about the Grayson, Holden and his daughter Belle AND wondering if there will be more about the Dalten Group called in for litigation of an issue
* Shoot…still kicking myself for missing out on this author’s books missed and hoping I have the opportunity to read more of them in the future!

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like – one specific man and an international company come to mind
* Thinking about missed opportunities and how at least in this story, the missed opportunity was not missed entirely.

Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for the ARC – This is my honest review.

5 Stars

THE REVIEW
Dominick Dalton is a Entertainment Lawyer in LA who is a confirmed bachelor with no desire to ever settle down. He is a one night stand kind of guy and when he spies Kendall across the party, he knows she is his for the night.

Kendall Ray recently moved to LA to work for her famous reality star sister. She is a sweet, quiet artist who loves teaching art classes at the retirement communities. Growing up in Boston, she had long term boyfriend, no sexy one night stands.

After one super hot night, neither can seem to get the other out of their heads. But when Kendall shows up at a meeting with her sister, she is shocked to find Dominick! Dominick realizes she would be the perfect girl for a reality tv show and helps her land the spot. It complicates their relationship and makes her sister furious. They go on to battle their desire for each other, Kendall’s budding career, and her sisters revenge.

The books started out questionable for me…the one smelt one night stand, the drama between the sisters, etc, but it thankfully picked up a more solid plot and I was hooked! I thought the romance between Dominick and Kendall was so sweet, even if he was reluctant to commit, she wasn’t going to let him get away with that and his in ability to let her get away pushed them together. The side characters were intriguing as well and I am excited to read their stories in the series. I appreciated that Dominick was definitely an Alpha male but he was such a care-giver to Kendall and just so so sweet to her!

Two More Days

*A note before you slog through all of this. 1) I only listened to some of the stories. I skipped unfamiliar authors due to time constraints. B) I'm leaving this long mostly blank list as I had a hard time finding a list of the story names and authors so hopefully, I can save someone else a little time.

Tequila Mate - Author - Stars - Character Names - Review/Thoughts.

Always Cake - Max Monroe - 3 Stars - Emily, Austin - Two best friends born on the same day. They celebrate their birthdays together every year and on their 24th the night goes further than planned. Now it’s their 35th birthday and they have decided to honor the pact they made when they turned.

Confessions - Lora Richardson - Stars - Character Names - Review/Thoughts

Heels Over Head in Love - Willow Aster - Stars - Character Names - Review/Thoughts.

Second Summer - Laurelin Paige - Stars - Character Names - Thoughts/Review

Protected - Dr. Rebecca Sharp - Stars - Characters - Review/Thoughts.

The Vanished - Jennifer Wilson - Stars - CHARACTER NAMES HERE - REVIEW/THOUGHTS HERE

The Shelby - Jewel E. Ann - 3 Stars - The issue with this being an audiobook is I forget names quickly - I wasn’t expecting his tale of revenge. It was indeed sweet.

Sunshine Rae - Kandi Steiner - 2.5 Stars - Parker and ? - Just an okay story. Nothing mind blowing, just angst about being in love with your best friend who is about to propose to his girlfriend. It’s been done before and done better. Also, I didn’t really like the narrator as she sounded very juvenile.

From Friends to This - SERIES INFO - Dominique Laura - Stars - CHARACTER NAMES HERE - REVIEW/THOUGHTS HERE

The Kiss - SERIES INFO - M. Robinson - Stars - CHARACTER NAMES HERE - REVIEW/THOUGHTS HERE

Stone Heart - SERIES INFO - S. J. West - Stars - CHARACTER NAMES HERE - REVIEW/THOUGHTS HERE

Without Yesterday - Lexi Ryan - 2.5 Stars - James Cooper, Krystal aka Kris, - Honestly this I’m in a relationship but super attracted to someone else bit is not my thing. It was well written and there was no cheating, but I didn’t like the vibe.

Good Girl Gone Bad - SERIES INFO - R. K. Lilley - Stars - CHARACTER NAMES HERE - REVIEW/THOUGHTS HERE

Office Hours - SERIES INFO - Alessandra Torre - Stars - CHARACTER NAMES HERE - REVIEW/THOUGHTS HERE

Pineapple - SERIES INFO - Leia Stone - Stars - CHARACTER NAMES HERE - REVIEW/THOUGHTS HERE

Sincerely, Dane - Ilsa Madden-Mills - 3 Stars - Dane and Ava - A cute story. I loved the scavenger hunt and how it didn’t end the way I expected it to end.

Dark Eyes - Karina Halle - 3 Stars - Amethyst, Wolf, Shannon, Ezra - It was nice to see a PNR twist in the middle of all the contemporary stories in this anthology. This was an interesting examination of who the real monsters are. This world shows me more and more of that every day.

What If… - K. Bromberg - 3 Stars - Shiloh ”Shy”, Jake - I liked the set-up of this second chance even if it involved one leaving their fiancé (who we could all tell was wrong for her)

When It Happens - SERIES INFO - Micaela Smeltzer - Stars - CHARACTER NAMES HERE - REVIEW/THOUGHTS HERE

F*ck - Tijan - 3 Stars - Tysan Koda, Kase Crow, Aiden - Why did I find this story so hot. At first, I was disenchanted by the thought of another jerk hero but that somehow melted away.

The Dress - Colleen Hoover - 3 Stars - Can’t Remember the Names - A woman chooses herself over a superficial man. It was okay. I think I am fatigued from all of these stories.

I love anthologies. This one was really unique because of how each story started. It was interesting to see them all take a different approach to their story that fit into a plethora of romance subgenres.

Unusual story.
Lots of questions as to how the charecters are linked.
There is a romance.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
Left as a HEA in the future.

So here is “Animal” in all its glory.
Where do I start with this so very different story. well here goes,
Beard is running an illegal prison in Venezuela with his two best friends.
It’s A place where they torture and kill, not just for the money involved, but also for the kicks too.
Beard himself has an obsession with the screams, he loves to listen to the cries of the tortured and the damned, it’s just his thing.
So as you have probably surmised from the above "Animal" is an extremely dark tale and you should probably be aware that the descriptions in this are very graphic and detailed.
So the majority of this tale we get to follow Beard around and experience his very graphic sex life.
I should also mention that there's a lot of girl on girl action, some menage scenes and also some drug use as well, just in case this bothers you.
The sex itself is also very down and dirty in language as well as detail and while this itself didn't bother me, the sheer amount of it did.
This is where Animal lost a star for me, I felt there was too much and I just didn't enjoy some of the encounters here, they felt a trifle off to me.
I actually in hindsight realised why I felt this way, It was quite obvious to me once I'd made the connection.
Surprisingly the prison itself didn't affect me that much, not because I don't have a heart and lack the ability to empathise, Just more because I tried to not visualise what was occurring there, I buried my head in the sand, so to speak, out of sight, out of mind and all that jetsam.
You Know, LA LA LA LA LA Fingers in ears that kind of stuff.
I am actually pretty much unshockable anyway as it takes a lot to disturb me and mess with my head. Probably the side effect of reading so much depravity.
So moving on , the other person’s head we get to play inside is a young college girl by the name of Tyler.
Ignored and taken for granted by her family, makes Tyler extremely vulnerable in her need for acceptance and love.
she is Easily Recruited by the Achurdy and her choices in life lead her down a dark path with only one end seemingly in her sights.
we are given a little taster of Tyler's utter despair in life and also in her death.
A snapshot into her head if you will.
So, What did I just read? And How darn Clever Was this folks? A Slow Stunned Clap from me, I'm so very impressed Marni, you rock girl.
Animal by Marni Mann was a complete an utter twisted-mind F@ck.
I know I had a slightly bemused expression on my face throughout.
And I was also, in a state of utter confusion for the majority of this story.
and Just when I thought I was getting somewhere, It was like BAM!!! here's another curve-ball for you, we don't want you getting too complacent girl.
With the final curtain closing on what was a massive Reveal, my first thought after the initial shock was, Ah, I get it now, everything kinda makes sense in a weird sort of freaky arse way.
Marni Mann after keeping me in a state of compete and utter perplexity throughout all of “Animal” has somehow managed to wrap this all up so prettily
Gathering together all the stray threads of this story and weaving them into a sort of gruesome testimony.
At least that's what I thought until Animal threw another DUH!!! moment at me, (I'm rolling my eyes here people.)
I knew it was to good to be true,
Back to trying to find my way out of the dark, sigh.
Animal is like being lost in a maze with no exit anywhere at all.
So where were we, 0h yes, I guess this story hasn't quite finished unfolding yet. I for one can't wait till act two commences.

So just a footnote,
I originally after finishing "Animal" rated this a three and a half.
I decided to sleep on it before I put pen to paper
As I could not get this out of my head, and for that reason alone I've upped this to a four, as this is not a read I will forget in a hurry and it doesn’t really matter if that’s for the right or the wrong reasons it’s stuck in my head now so it’ a definite score.

Strong sexual themes, scenes of physical & sexual abuse, Drug use, & torture are abundant here.
Please do not take this author's warning lightly.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟STARS
I Picked up "Monster"(Animal, #2) practically as soon as I'd finished "Animal" and straight away I was plunged back into the world of confusion I've now come to expect from Marni Mann.
This lady has such a distinct way of telling a story misdirection should be her middle name.
The way she knits together the pieces of a tale keeping the reader guessing until the very end is just genius.
So I'd love to say this picked up exactly where the first instalment left off, but it really doesn't.
That would be too simple sigh.
I had no clue where the bleeding hell this was going yet again.
The only character I recognised from this was Shank who is now residing in a Venezuelan prison cell.
So Through a series of letters between Shank and Kid and flashbacks of the past, we get to hear the backstory of events that have led to his incarceration.
His story and it's hard to stomach in places.
But back to those letters,
They are very graphic dark and brutal, not really the sort of correspondence appropriate for a kid.
Through these we really get an insight into Shank's Psychotic head, showing us just how sick and twisted he really is.
The one thing I will say is these letters are certainly honest.
unempathetic and evil in their content but straightforward and candid in there intent.
Though Shank we get to find some closure as to what went down with Beard, Tyler, Diego and Toy when the curtain finally closed after the events of "Animal".
The other scenario we find ourselves visiting is Bangkok Thailand.
and here we get to meet Huck, brothel owner and reluctant rescuer.
After finding a beaten Arin on his backdoor step.
Huck her unenthusiastic white knight takes her in.
Whats starts initially as a grudging rescue Slowly escalates into more and although there is a lack of trust on Huck's part, he slowly starts to lower his defences letting Arin in.
The sexual scenes in this between Huck and Arin for me somehow counterbalance the gruesomeness off Shanks confessions.
The light to the darkness, I felt the connection. and needed this glimmer of brightness in a sea of black.
A beacon in the dark.
So eventually we are expertly steered to a surprising climax that I really loved.
It was unexpected and so well constructed within these pages that it took me completely unawares.
All is revealed to us the reader, our eyes are opened this story is finally told and the curtain can fall.
Bravo Marni your story-weaving skills are epic and twisted girl, I'm so suitably impressed.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Trapper is a world renowned poker player, he's also got the kind of past you could never imagine and a career that's as illegal as they come. When he meets Brea at a masquerade party they give in to their emotional connection and share a kiss as intense as they come, however they never see each other's face. Brea's been through hell over the past couple of years and when he best friend encourages her to start really dating she knows the man behind the mask is the perfect person to start with. when his face resembles someone dear to Dani she knows she has to figure out this mystery. With his face Trapper brings secrets to life that Dani and Trapper knew nothing about and those dark secrets could affect their lives forever.

Mmm, mmm, mmm, Wild Aces is one of those delicious novels you will not be able to put down. From the sex to the wild plot twists, this one is a page turner. Told from the dual-POV's of our hero, Trapper, and heroine, Brea, Wild Aces jumps headfirst into a suspenseful romance filled with dark turns and characters with stories you could never guess. What starts as just an emotional, lust filled connection of the eyes and lips soon turns into intense photos and phone calls between the main characters. Without knowing who the other is, beyond just their first names, the slightly dangerous unknown brings out the sexual side of Brea and Trapper, tying them to one another emotionally before they really know who is on the other side of the phone. I am trying to write this review without giving anything away, so bear with me if it's a little confusing.

I loved these characters, including all the dark parts of them. Brea is like a puppy you want to comfort, she's hard to dislike, and watching her world get rocked by all the twists in this novel is heartbreaking. Then there's Trapper, who we know has a past as dark and ugly as you could ever imagine, but as a reader we see a light to him. Marni Mann did an amazing job of writing this book with suspense and mystery, while it is simple to guess at some things, other parts took me by complete surprise. While the chemistry is there, it's surface, and as secrets come to light it gets so intense. There are hurdles that alone could have been handled, but combined make for this huge emotional breakdown that I wasn't sure could ever be repaired. It's definitely the kind of book that you should go in without expectations, because nothing is what you think. The twists grabbed my attention and though I hurt, and even cried, I felt like a cheerleader on the sidelines cheering for these two to figure it out together. The love story is real and while this is a sexy read, it isn't overly smutty. There are some very dark parts, but the light that comes from those dark parts makes it absolutely worth it.

Filled with a roller coaster of emotions, Wild Aces is one surprising read. There is more depth to this novel than one would first expect and it makes it just that much better. Wild Aces is a standalone, however several of the secondary characters are featured in other novels. This is my first Marni Mann novel, but it won't be my last.

4.5 wild and unexpected twist stars

The first book in this duet was a mind screw. This one was even more. This book did a good job reminding me what I might have forgotten in the first one to fill in the blanks and keep the fluidity of the store. That being said, prepare yourself for a dark and twisty ride. Holy hell. That ending... Was not expecting it.

Read at your own risk. If you like dark then you will like this.

This book was not what I was expecting. There was a nice twist to it that was interesting. Trapper and Brea were cute together but I was wanting something more. I did like Trapper's need to help kids. Having been a lost child in the system it was nice to see there were people that cared.

A Quick fast paced book about how fragile life in Hollywood is. Brett and James were hotter than Hades together.

Another great read from this author. No matter what she writes she creates a story that sucks me in. This book was no exception. I floved Max and Eve. They were explosive together.

I cannot wait for Scarlett's story next.

This was a good quick read. It seemed to not have as much substance to the story as the others did. It felt more rushed. I was sad about this as I really liked Scarlett and wanted more of her character, and Hudson's too, to be fleshed out. Still a good book .
