E. E. Manney (1896–1994)

Enos Edwin Manney Sr. of Fort Worth, a retired newspaper publisher and filmmaker, died Thursday at a Fort Worth hospital. He was 97.

He began in the newspaper business at age 10, and by the time he turned 17 he was owner, editor and publisher of a country newspaper. He eventually owned and published newspapers in New Mexico, Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma.

Mr. Manney became interested in motion pictures in his early teens and began work in the projection booth at a movie theater. He later bought a theater.

He filmed many documentaries in cooperation with the National Park Service, among them movies about the Mesa Verde cliff dwellings, Chaco Canyon Pueblo Bonito, Fort Union National Monument and the Santa Fe Trail. He also became a sound engineer and owned recording studios in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, N.M., and in Fort Worth. He owned a record manufacturing facility in Albuquerque and established several record labels. He also owned Bluebonnet Music Publishing Co.

Mr. Manney ventured into book publishing and manufacturing and did work for many other publishers.

He was an ordained minister and had established several churches, serving as pastor and evangelist.
