After seeing the film Invictus, I wanted to know more about Nelson Mandela. This work, a coffee table, large format hagiography, contains a brief biography and is loaded with historical images of his life and the struggle against apartheid in South Africa. Intermingled are reminiscences by famous and anonymous individuals who have known Mandela throughout his long life. He has an incredible will to live, and one of the great smiles of our age, all after 27 years in a South African prison! To go from a prison cell to the Presidency of his nation is an extraordinary journey, and Mandela is one of the titans of our age who harkens back to the time when great leaders strode the world stage.
