This is an excellent classic study of children seemingly born without a conscience. Unable to properly bond with their parents, they appear extremely disaffected and unfeeling about others, and often exhibit violent behaviors. The author explores the theories of causation and the behavioral aspects. The only part I disagreed with came towards the end when the author discusses and approves of "holding therapy" as a cure. There has been a lot of controversy about this treatment, along with disclosures of abuse and deaths, and many questions as to its effectiveness.
