Not what I thought or hoped it would be.

It is not a "story" and requires more deciphering than I care for. Written in short, randomish chapters it reads more like poetry or metaphors which is not my reading preference. I am reading about one thing then before it's absorbed or connected to anything, I am reading something completely different.

Reading reviews, after I started to question it, I see things like "coming of age" "not chronological" "dreamlike quality" "reads like poetry or a dream" "kind of weird"

Many people LOVE it, it's just a me thing I'm sure so ymmv.… (altro)

Beautiful prose structured into striking vignettes and short stories with threads of magic-realism and dream-logic running through them.
