I liked how the near future and the ancient mythological worlds were complementary. The characters were interesting but tended to be flat.½

dnf @ 15%

Didn't really liked how boundaries weren't established when three mcs agreed to play just with sex toys and a few lines after that it goes to full penetrative sex. I like excited consent, especially in novellas, since there is no time to develop the characters (but in this case there's apparently time to info-dump all nerdy lore about Star Wars and such, which is unnecessary imo because it didn't add to the character development, relationship and overall story)

This collection of 20 dystopian urban fantasy novels is a great deal. I am reviewing Kiersten Fay's The Vampire's Masquerade. Vampire's Masquerade is the 4th book in the Creatures of Darkness series and a follow up to Keeping his Siren. Lex and Kasima meet at the Ever Nights club and it's instant attraction - what is initially meant to be a one night stand turns into a steamy affair with a bit of a surprise ending. It was nice to be reacquainted with the rest of the Ever Nights characters and I hope to see more of their stories.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I read about a quarter of this
it's a gay relationship (two cis men) opening up to include a cis woman (bi or pan, I can't remember)
which is just a #notmytrope situation

Will put a mention in for my favorite rendering of this trope: Bound With Passion (Regency Reimagined, 3) by Megan Mulry, although the third person is nonbinary.
Lindt's book was focused on the diversity in sexual coupling, as far as I read.
Mulry's book is all about gender issues, specifically how to engage with gender identity as something inclusive, that expands and frees you, rather than contracts you. The gay male couple who open their relationship work with the nonbinary afab who is brought in, and through that relationship the mc is able to explore their own femininity and masculinity in an emotionally safe environment. The ending is not to my taste, but the rest of the book asks really interesting questions. And since the nbmc is supposed to be "unlikeable" (re the author's note in the back - Mulry has great author's notes in this series) I learn something about myself from how I feel about them each time I read.

CW: suicide attempt, outing of same gender relationship
enjoyed this one, but dnfed halfway through the second one, when I got tired of waiting for the same gender love interest to show up again
some power issues with the opposite gender love interest, former teacher at her school

Reverse Harem just isn't my trope, though, and I read this in the middle of figuring that out. Forbidden fruit/Workplace romance is never my trope, and this teacher had known her since she was a little girl. And I don't know if it's a trope, but I'm not super into the story arc of bisexual women choosing heterosexual partnerships. I'm glad there is more bisexual representation of all kinds! I just don't find much appeal in that particular narrative.

Because this was a pile of Not My Tropes, I was too distracted by the power issues of a teacher as love interest and the gender and sexuality issues of man as love interest (juxtaposed against her same gender peer love interest) to invest in their relationship. Unfortunately, their relationship was the primary focus of (as much as I read of) the second book.

The story was engaging. I would have read the trilogy if there had been more focus on the exgirlfriend or other non cishetmale love interests.

"the kind of thing that only happened in porn"

A couple are celebrating their first Christmas together. They invite her best friend to spend Christmas Eve with them for a few drinks. A blizzard ensues and he has to spend the night. Fortunately their suite has two bedrooms - though the walls are dreadfully thin, and then there's that game of "Truth Or Dare"...

So nothing new in the setup, but Allyson Lindt and Shaylin Matthews bring us a trio of likable, human characters who all get their say, and have their reservations, about what ensues. This is a fantasy, one loaded with angst and drama and love and joy and sex and uncertainty and it works.

A great quick read to curl up with this holiday season. Recommended.

Toeing The Line was a heartwarming story full of steam, friendships and love.

Riley and Zane were characters that alternately made me fall in love and want to hit them for being so thickheaded and thinking so less of themselves.

It was heartwarming to watch Zane and Riley fight their demons and keep fighting for their friendship. It was also very frustrating to know that they're in love with each other and being unable to tell the other.

So all in all, Toeing The Line was the kinda book that brings out the rawest emotions in you.

Mercy had a crush on Ian for years. When he left for college, she tried to get him to take her with him & get her away from her father. Ian turned her down. Mercy survived but after graduation, she left town & didn't look back. She had been friends with Ian's sister, Liz, & stayed in touch. Liz is getting married & asked Mercy to be part of the wedding. The wedding never took place since the grooms wife crashed the wedding & Liz is devastated & convinces Mercy to stick around & help her get over it. Mercy & Ian meet again & the chemistry is still there. They start getting reacquainted while they are supporting Liz & trying to help her back on her feet. As their chemistry & heat grows, they discover they are competing for the same advertising contract. Also, Mercy's dad has decided he wants to reconnect & keeps putting Ian in the middle. Can they find away to make it work this time?

I loved this story. It's a hot steamy HEA with several subplots. The writing is easy to follow & the characters are realistic. Terrific value!

Quick, sexy read. The main premise is that of two people with jobs that require a large amount of travel run into each other at a convention. The chemistry between them is hot & intense. Jade heard rumors about Brandon that start them off on the wrong foot. They both are lonely & getting tired of all the time they spend traveling alone. They agree to give a long distance romance a chance. This is a quick, tight plot with interesting characters.

Zane comes back after being gone for 6 years things are a little rocky for him and Riley at first. But, they end up finding a happily ever after.

I loved this book well written pulled me in and i couldn't stop reading it had to force myself to put it down. This can be read as a stand alone, but if you want a little more back round on Liz then you might want to read the fist book in the series Selling Seduction.

Another awesome read from Allyson Lindt, read it in about 9 hours it was that good. I loved Jonathan and Bailey, they are to cute together. If you like Allyson Lindt you gotta read this book. I recieved as a ARC in return for an honest review, not very good at writing reviews but I also don't want to give anything away. Thank you Allyson Lindt for the great books you write.

So many pieces about this was either wrong or unbelievable - the jumping into bed immediately, the abuse hatemail, the timeline of the shelter (and another timeline I will not disclose for spoilers) - that I just could not get into it at all.

This book was a little hard for me to follow in some parts. The story itself is a good one- kind of nerdy lol. Rae well I didn't love love her I did like her. I think she was wrong in the way she treated Zach in the past and present. There were some hot juicy sex scenes.
