A cat tries to figure out why the farm animals are making so much noise. A story about animals and their onomatopoeic sounds (cat, dog, hen, horse, cow, ducks, sheep, pigs)

The book shows what a little girl does when she feels happy like hugging her dog. It helps children understand the feeling of happiness and how to express it towards others.

In my opinion this is a great book for young children. The first thing I like about this book is the writing. The writing is very engaging and organized as it starts out describing silly scenarios like, "This little girl is pretending to be a puppy. She likes being silly." Then later on, the book goes into places and times children should not act silly saying things like, "There are places where it's good to be silly, and places where it's not. Do you think this is a good place?" The second thing I enjoyed were the illustrations. The illustrations were appropriate to the mood and clearly enhanced the story. For the last quote about places where it is okay to be silly the illustration showed, a child playing with fruit in the grocery store while the father looked disappointed in him pushing the shopping cart. This image clearly displays a place where children should not act silly. Lastly, I enjoyed the characters throughout the book. When a child reads this story, they will be able to relate the text to themselves as the characters are believable. For example a child could remember a time they were acting too silly and got hurt after reading this quote, "And if your silliness gets too wild, someone might even get hurt." In the end, I think that the 'big idea' of this book is to teach and expose children to familiar situations. The book does this in order to help children recognize the emotion (silly), and express how they might feel in certain situations when they have that feeling.

This was a cute little book. It is intended for Ages 7 to 9. It is a series of different stories about Giants. What I truly liked about this story for the young reader is that even though all of the stories were different, because they were describing different Giants, they all surrounded a theme of all of these giants being involved with a small little town on the side of the mountain.

So, the town being the anchor to the story, the Giants all interacted differently with it. I feel that it gave the entire book a sense of continuity. By the third story I was saying to myself with a laugh, "Oh that poor little town".

The print size is good for the 7 to 9 year old and the mix of words and pictures were well balanced in my opinion. Also, because each Giant was different, it gives the reader the impression of a chapter book. The young reader could easily stop at a particular giant and catch up with the new one later on. Also, the end of one Giant story was a good segway to the next one. Teaching the young reader to follow a series of events.

I would recommend this book for the 7 to 9 year old or as it states on the cover, it is for Grades 2 or 3. Very well written and the stories were very entertaining.

I believe this book is good, it has large, simple text in conjunction with correlating illustrations. The illustrations depict exactly what the text is saying. For example, the text reads "This little boy broke his toy. He feels angry." and the illustration shows a little boy breaking his toy. The little boy's eyebrows are slanted down, his cheeks are red, he has a frown on his face, and his arms are tense looking. All of these clues helped me to identify what angry may look like in a picture. Each page has a text with a supporting illustration that helps me, as the reader, understand the feeling of angry. The book is also great because, it asks thought provoking questions to make me think about how I would feel in certain situations. For example, it gives an incident when a child is angry and then asks, "What makes you angry?" It not only helps to identify what the emotion is, but how to deal with that feeling. The book describes that talking to a parent might help, crying it out, or needing a hug may help with that emotion. I think that is wonderful, because it took me through each part of the process.

I liked this book. I enjoyed the illustrations in the book towards the end where it showed the bear’s thoughts. It showed a cloud thought of each different season when he would play outside smelling the flowers, swimming at the beach, flying a kite, and building a snowman. I also enjoyed the plot of this book because it showed how much fun he can have outside during all the different seasons. For example, during the summer, he would play in his sandbox outside, run through the sprinkler, and wade in the pool. The main idea of this story is that there are many activities to do outside no matter what season it is and how the weather feels.

This is a very simple book that very young children could read. It involves children actors that talk about being a vet. I think that kids will like this book and be able to easily understand. This would be a great book to use when you are teaching about carrers.

I liked this book. It was about a bear who really enjoyed being outside no matter what the season. It went through all four seasons and showed what the bear did in each. The book would be good for beginning readers because the print is large ad it reads quickly.

This book is about a bear and how he enjoys playing outside in all of the different seasons. The book describes the different activities the bear does in the different seasons. For example, in the summer he plays in the sprinkler and in the fall he picks pumpkins. It also describes how the bear wears different clothes in the different seasons.

Real Kids Readers is a very good choice for "easy" readers. It wins hands down over many mass-market produced "easy" readers. Many short vowel words with many words that would come from the Dolch word list. The layout of the book is excellent for beginning readers.

This is a book about being yourself- whether you're the same or different from others. It's also about thinking about who you are. Jo Ann learns that the other Brownies appreciate the ways she's different and special just as she appreciates them. The girls sing fill-in-the blank songs about themselves and also make time-lines. They make a scrap book for Mrs. Q.

The Brownies are unexpectedly snowed in on a historical recreation farm they've spent the day on. Everyone is excited, except Krissy, who will miss her part in the opening night of "Beauty and the Beast." She's very unhappy about it, but the other brownies have plenty of ideas to cheer her up, including putting on their own play. This story is full of fun historical recreation things the girls do, and also has an idea for a theater exercise.

I loved how the Brownie troop went to a doll museum in this story, and how they worked with the Cadettes. The Cadettes designed a nice treasure hunting activity and tea for the Brownies. The central message of the story is that Amy should be herself- always a good message.½

"A young bear enjoys being outside during all four seasons, whether he is playing in the spring rain, wading in his pool in the summer, picking pumpkins in the fall, or sledding in the winter." Source: Summary from the flip side of the title page.
