When I first read the blurb for this book, I instantly wanted to read it. So much so that I sent Vicki a message asking if I could review! I'm happy to say this book did not disappoint. There's a lot to love, but my favorite aspect is the worldbuilding. The idea of a Protector society fighting physical nightmare creatures in a 4th dimension had me hooked.

Plus, the MC's love interest is in a psych ward. Very cool setting.

I would've liked a bit more descriptions in some areas, sometimes they seemed a bit vanilla, but that didn't slow down the story at all.

A paranormal action filled romance with a hot boy leading the way. What more could you want?

I almost forgot! One of my reading pet peeves is endings. This book has a great ending. OBVIOUSLY, I'm not going to share it, but I smiled when I read the last page.

**I received a copy of this book from the author through a Goodreads Giveaway contest.**

For the most part, I truly enjoyed this book. I loved the concept -- protectors and weavers working together to battle Nightmares. I did like the characters, especially some of the secondary characters -- like the young weaver Tabbi and Trishna, the witch (I would really love to learn more about them!) but the insta-love between the main characters bugged me (as it always does in ya novels -- why do we ALWAYS have to have insta-love????). The main male character at least questioned the insta-love and his friends also questioned it but it was, for the most part, simply accepted. However, the interesting world that the author created, the new rules defining dreams and nightmares, and the (for the most part) interesting and believable characters drew me in enough that I have already gone on to order the second book.

If you like magic and fantasy with a smidge of terror along with relatable characters and a fascinating world with some interesting new elements, you should definitely check this book out!

Earlier this month I read the first book in this series, Catch Me When I Fall, and I was very curious to find out if some of the things concerning the dreamcatchers and the worldbuilding would be cleared in this second novel. Unfortunately I didn't get the answers I was hoping for. Instead I was left with many more questions.

*This review may contain some spoilers so please beware*

First of all, if everyone has two people waking over them at night, there should be billions of Dreamcatchers, which seemed like a lot in the first book already. However, when they are looking for them to fight back against Richard only a hundred of so can be collected. And the ones that came, did they leave their humans behind? Is that ethical? I know that a Nightmare can kill a Dreamcatcher, but can it normally really hurt a human more than give them a nightmare? The Dreamcatchers are dead, but they still need to live in houses and eat food, even though they can evaporate on any given moment.

Sorry, I let myself go for a moment. The story was actually quite solid, when I was not worrying about the questions stated above, but it suffered a bit from the second book syndrome. There was a lot of building up (and quite some of the characters don't make it to the end of the book) but it wasn't really exciting. The ending didn't come as such a big surprise to me, and I think it will now be another year's wait before we'll know how it ends.

Thanks to the publisher for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review during this blog tour!

Daniel had a choice when he died 200 years ago, he decided to stay attached to the world of the living, fighting off the Nightmares that haunt sleeping people every night. When his new assignment is a sixteen year old, depressed girl named Kayla things get out of hand quickly.

Although the premise was very original, it got me thinking straight away. If only a fraction of the dying people chooses to become these Protectors of the Night, and training takes over a century, then how would everyone have two of them (considering that they are really dropping like flies). Since these Protectors are dead, why do they need to live in an apartment and steal decorations? How come no-one notices them living in apartments and all.

While these questions and more where in the back of my head I was still really enjoying reading it. Unfortunately there was an overdose of instalove and main character Kayla was a special snowflake if I ever saw one. Things got a little bit confusing near the end, but I'm curious to see what the next book in the series will bring.

Catch me when I fall is the first book in the Dreamcatcher series.
