The author, Master Lee, holds 9th degree taekwondo belt and has an honorary doctorate degree in phyisical education.

Lee trained people in his art of r over 20 years in Europe, and is one of the poneers who worked to make taekwondo a global sport. He now serves as a Deputy Secretary General of the World Taekwondo Federation, the headquarter of taekwondo in Seoul, Korea.

Taekwondo is a Korean traditional martial art. Of three essential elements to consist Taekwondo, Kyorugi, a sparring skill, has been develped separately to become a main character of taekwondo. The aspect of taekwondo as a game sport has been growingly emphasized in the course of extension of taekwondo, nationally and internationally.

Training taekwondo can both improve and increase the capacities of teh human mind and body. While competition with others can be a good way to practice taekwondo, learning how to do Kyorugi, obeying strict rules and showing courtesy to the other competitor, will sure help to attain the deepermost philosphy of taekwondo, as well as to increase yur skill and health.

Master Lee, a Guikgiwan-authorized 9th-dan black-belter, has a license of Qualification for Coaching issued by Austrian authority. He has an honorary doctorate degree in physical education.

He is now a professor of Department of Sport Diplomacy at Chungcheong College and also a president of Taekwondo Culture Institute.

Taekwondo is an international sport, and there is a growing interest in the development of increased concentration and spirit in many parts throughout the world. Taekwondo is one of the most popular worldwide martial arts and it contributes not only to the improvement of human health but also to the establishment of human unity within society.

This book is concentrated on Taekwondo philsophy based on the contents, the research and teaching methods and also included an outline of the development of the World Taekwondo Federation and other associated institutions. In addition, taekwondo is also introduced as an official event of the Olympic Games and this entry will be discussed and examined.

Taekwondo not only foritifes the body and spirit through physical exercise but it also contains 'Han' philosophy in every movement. This book highlights the connection between 'Han' philsosophy and taekwondo in order to improve taekwondo culture. This book is dedicated to all who have an interest and affection in taekwondo.
