The story opens in the first-person viewpoint of KT, a troubled young man from a corrupt and abusive family. He is in hiding from his father, who is involved in serious criminal enterprises. With him is his lover Turn, sort of stepbrother by marriage. Turn, steady and enigmatic, offers the resourceful but scattered KT the stability and unconditional love that he needs. However, KT still feels that Turn keeps him in the dark about most things, including Turn’s mysterious job with the FBI. When Turn is abducted, KT narrowly avoids the same fate. He pursues, following clues across the southwest, into Arizona, and finally into the wasteland of the Mexican desert where drug lords fight wars over territory and kill as many people as they want. KT will have to stay alive long enough to locate Turn and pull off a rescue.

Turncoat by Amber Green is another original, nonconformist read from an author who always manages to surprise me. This is book two in a series about KT and Turn, and you will get more out of the book if you have already read the first book Turner & Turner One Good Turn. Some readers may find the writing style too different for their tastes in that it can be enigmatic, making you work through a tricky plot, figuring things out and wondering how far to trust the first-person narrator. But KT is an engaging and complex narrator, and you may find his story as unputdownable as I did.

I especially appreciate the author’s trademark attention to sensory detail and location, often in a vivid northern Florida landscape. Here, much of the action happens in the anarchic Mexican desert in nameless, cartel-controlled towns. The sense of danger, powerlessness, and imminent death at the hands of psychopathic drug lords is a thrill a minute. A couple of scenes edge toward non-consensual sex, just so you know. Meanwhile, KT continues to evolve in his relationship with the very likable Turn, and I’m looking forward to the next installment in their story.

"A Very Southern Affair" by Elaina Lee was a good romance read. It was definitely a novel that would make you smile and laugh out loud! I really enjoyed every page of the book. The novel flowed very well from the beginning till the end. You were kept intrigued with this storyline just wandering what was going to happen next!

Hollee Rutherford is from a small southern town in Belleville and was the towns 'Liaison.' Hollee was to welcome Kaiden Thorne from Pennsylvania to the town...and the company he worked for was thinking of building a resort in Belleville, Alabama ...and the local town people did not want this...so many tried doing anything to drive Kaiden off...even into putting fleas in this motel room. Now what would happen next.... Hollee is starting to care about this Kaiden guy, however Hollee had always had bad memories when it came to love. Memories of FOUR fiances who had died after she became engaged to them. This was very strange...now Hollee is thinking she had been cursed, so....Hollee vows to stay away from Kaiden Thorpe. Kaiden hadn't had a good run in the (love) department either..."if he didn't need this conniving town to save his career....he would be out of here." There were several series of weird things that happened to him..from having fleas in his hotel room,to have be given a live fish to eat, his important work pages fly all over the room from the fan...but it seemed like the two....... Hollee and Kaiden couldn't stay apart.....many funny episodes..... football game on TV with weird neighbors.... The Sinclairs... the visit from the deputy at Hollee's office .....the flying large roach the size of a mouse..........then finding a closet of bride dresses and shoes...and this is where I say you will have to pick up this wonderful good novel..." A Very Southern Affair" to see how it turns out. Will this resort ever be built in Belleville?

The characters were really amazing and you are drawn into every one of them.....Hollee, Kaiden, Booker, Charlene, Aunt Mazie, Estelle Cabrino, Mayor, Devan Winbourne, Jerthro Rollins, Annabelle, Mrs. Brakefield, Mrs. Reenee Humpston, Mr. Brady, Bubba, Lynzee, Bear, Nick, Deputy Chris Ryan, Emma Reynolds, Mary Jean Riley, Rev. Sanders, Coach Haygood and Teddy Gomez.....I am sure I have left someone out.....

This indeed was a fun but yet serious novel that was well written beautifully. If you are for a sexy southern romance...."A Very Southern Affair" will be a good read here.… (altro)

"To Urn Her Love" by Elaina Lee was a short and funny romance novel. It was about a stolen urn that was returned to its owner. How Elaina Lee went about the story was really interesting. The brother, Kyle, steals the urn thinking it was a flower vase for his sister, Caylie and now she has to return this to its' rightful owner. However, the catch to this story is that this urn belongs to a a former boyfriend (Rick Marshall)that had broken her heart seven years ago. Would Caylie be able to do this? You will just have to read it and laugh along with me!
I did laugh a lot while reading "To Urn Her Love" and I think you will be laughing along with me in this funny good read!… (altro)
