If you are interested in knowing what goes into building a dream amusement park ride, then this book is for you. It also is for the mechanically interested/gifted. The author does provide a fairly good background for all this, complete with a story about the creative mechanical engineer, with a wild but creative idea to build a ride that will simulate the Titanic’s sinking amid a big Titanic themed resort in Vegas, and some retired Disney imagineers. The book provides great insight into what goes into the making a behemoth, widely popular amusement ride. The author also included a backdrop of this young engineer and his struggling family, all of whom are willing to risk almost all, within reason, for the engineer’s amusement ride idea. There is a lot of background engineer stuff that is presented, as the engineer, his wife, his father-in-law and the crew of retired Disney crew move this idea from the engineer’s mind, to the drawing board, to the workshop, to reality. This story definitely will tease any creative juices/ideas you, the reader, may have. Personally, I found the story interesting and different from most things I have read, but there was just too much about the inner workings of this project in it to really hold my attention. I had difficulty getting into it and staying with it once I was immersed in the story. However, once I got into the book, I realized this book was just not piquing my interest enough, and I think it was because I could not get into how things such as this amusement ride go from idea to reality. I guess I prefer more traditional romances, mysteries, etc. Nevertheless, I admire the creativity and research (or training/experience) on the part of the author to produce such a book. I think there are a lot out there who would enjoy such background on and insight into the inner workings of an amusement park ride development. I received this through the Kindle Scout Program to read and review.… (altro)
