This is the story of a little boy named Gerald McCloy. Gerald is unable to speak normal words, and instead says things like "boing," "clang," "boom," and "gong." Because of this strange talent, his parents, teachers, and peers will not accept him. As everyone turns their backs on Gerald, he decides to run away to live by himself. Luckily, a man finds him before he runs away and invites him to host his noise-making radio show. After Gerald becomes famous from coast to coast, he is accepted and loved by his family and many friends. This would be a good story to read to a class as you talked and discussed accepting people for the way that they are.
