Onder meer omdat ze minder vaak dan andere kinderen het initiatief nemen in het leggen van contacten met anderen, missen kinderen met autisme heel wat natuurlijke, belangrijke leermomenten (imiteren, oogcontact maken, emoties herkennen,…).
