The year is 1790. The new republic of the United States os America is struggling to remain free and united. George Washington is president. Two heroes of the revolution, Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson, are now bitter political enemies, arguing for different ways to govern the country. Which view will win?
This is the setting for this book: an exciting re-creation of an important time in history: It tells the true story of the faith and courage of men who devoted their lives to a new experiment in democracy. The chances of failure were far greater than success -yet the country prospered- to become 200 years later, in 1976, the oldest democracy in modern history.

One of the most remarkable evolutions in the history of cinema traced the progress of the Dead End Kids from the pathetic yet lovable lost boys of this play to the simply pathetic losers of something like In the Money (1958). I think it would be fair to say that the Kids stole the original show, which is just as well, since their presence betokened a curious sub-text -- yes, they're doomed, but they do have fun!
