This is an entertaining and enjoyable Regency Romance with a twist. The heroine Calista Wingrove and the hero Maxim Langley, the Marquess of Moreland, are the reincarnations of a doomed Celtic princess and her Roman general lover. Max must marry before his thirtieth birthday to get his inheritance but can’t marry his lover, Lady Davina, because she’s already married. Callie and Max are drawn to each other when they meet and soon marry but Lady Davina is furious about this and determined to separate them by any means possible. There's a supernatural element to the story.

The story is set in both Regency and in Roman times. It moves between London and Cornwall where there is a set of standing stones that play a large part in the story.

Calista is a lively heroine although occasionally she seems very modern in her attitudes, although that’s a common fault in historical romances. I didn’t like Max at first because he plans to marry someone, dump her in the country and carry on his affair with Lady Davina although I liked him better later when he realized how heartless and cruel that would have been. Lady Davina is an excellent villainess although she seems not to have one redeeming feature. I also liked the cast of supporting characters.
