This book tells the story of Shelby, a girl who is self described as not being very "girly" She enjoys sports, playing outside, and digging in the dirt, and one thing she dislikes more than anything else, is wearing dresses. When Shelby finds out she has to wear a dress for her Aunt Jen's wedding, she is caught between doing something she hates, and doing what would make her Aunt Jen really happy. This book is very relateable for both boys and girls who don't necessarily fit into any standard gender role. Shelby defies these roles throughout the story, but while still being reasonable and willing to compromise when necessary. The text itself is very fun for you young readers, as it incorporates a lot of speech bubble text that lets the readers really understand the characters' personalities and speaking patterns.… (altro)
