Fraser’s a gruff, cinnamon roll, secret Taylor Swift fan, hockey player who’s just been asked by his best friend to accompany his sister Evie to her ex’s wedding. Evie became a viral internet star when she was dumped on live tv by her ex. So, having a hunky, hockey star take her to the wedding will be the icing on the cake.
Fraser and Evie have had a crush on each other since high school, but unforeseen circumstances and the fact that Evie’s Fraser’s best friend’s little sister kept them apart. Now seven years later, these two have a chance to reconnect and discover what happened all those years ago.
I thoroughly enjoyed this fun, funny, sweet romance! There were so many unique things that set this apart from other romcoms. I loved that they actually talked on the phone (90’s style), and didn’t let misunderstandings fester. I loved the banter, truth fries, the good luck charm bracelet, punk rock, dancing in the ocean, and the great relationships with family & friends.
The only thing that was a bit of a detractor for me was the embarrassment about virginity and hiding Fraser’s sister’s secret. I personally found it refreshing to have characters who choose to wait. We need more of this! I wish the author had put even more of a positive spin on their choices and less embarrassment. While I understand why they hid Dawn’s secret, I think it could have been handled with a little more finesse.
All in all, a great read and a fantastic debut for this author! I’m excited to read the next book in the series! Definitely recommend to hockey romance and romcom fans. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author but also purchased through Kindle Unlimited. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.
