If you believe that love is as simple and salvific as a Hallmark card and have no trouble with characters who unquestioningly subsume their wills to a substitute father figure, then perhaps you might enjoy this book.

The author most likely belongs to one of the larger Sufi sects in the world (Ni'matullahi) and has dedicated this book to his Sufi master (Dr. Javed Nurbakhsh). There are many references to Sufi sayings, philosophy and practice (this part takes on the emotional intensity of teenage girls at their favorite Boy Band concert).

Surprisingly abundant in digs and slights towards Tuaregs.

For a more complex view of jinn, I highly recommend the Bartimaeus series by Jonathan Stroud. He also has a prequel Solomon book, "The Ring of Solomon" which is hilarious.… (altro)
