I strongly recommend this book for anyone who is curious about the gardening tradition of Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley. I think the short descriptions and histories of the many gardens of this region are just enough to cause the intended effect: to entice people to visit some of these wonderful places. I think it is also a great book for those already familiar with many gardens of this region, primarily because even savants have probably not visited nearly all the great cultivated green spaces of Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley.½
