Ronnie Lee Mickle has an inborn gift for storytelling. The central character of Rock Star is a young gay man from small town Georgia who moves to Atlanta to begin creating a life for himself. He supports himself as a stripper in an adult night club catering primarily to gay men, where he assumes the stage name and persona of "Justin." But Justin's story is no lewd exploration of gay nightlife. It is an honestly rendered, well paced and emotionally compelling chronicle based closely on the true life story of the author. At no point does the narrative become formulaic or artificial. The freshness and candor of the the author's voice keeps the story real, and Mickle's natural sense of pacing keeps the reader intrigued and emotionally invested in Justin's wellbeing from the beginning of the story until the very last page… (altro)
