Early WW2 book with some excellent but excessive personal information about destroyer commanders and crews as action in the Pacific goes from terrible to great. The ineptitude of the "Academy Crowd" is painfully obvious during the early battles, Tassafaronga and Savo Island, in the Pacific. Burke's learning curve was steep but he did learn, many admirals and generals did not do as well.
