Let me begin by being completely honest and telling you that I am privileged to call Jim Hylton a friend. A scant few minutes ago, I closed the back cover of his new book, The Supernatural Skyline, and immediately called him to tell him what a remarkable book it is. In his trademark humility and grace, his first statement was an apology that I had found and paid for it before he could get me a complimentary copy! Honestly, though, this book is well worth many times whatever price is paid for it. I say all of that in an effort to convey that even though I opened this book already rooting for Jim, this review is meant to be helpful to you, the potential reader.

The Supernatural Skyline begins with great strength, and the momentum builds all the way through the last page. You quickly discover that Jim Hylton's writing style (just like his preaching), is marked by that fact that not one word is wasted. It is not uncommon for one paragraph to contain enough nuggets of truth to fill a whole other book of their own. As Jim writes about his vast and intriguing experiences in ministry, you begin to realize that he has been a lot more important to the Church than he will ever let on. When he mentions the wonderful people he has known, he is always bragging on them, never about the fact that he knew, pastored, or discipled them.

As to the content of The Supernatural Skyline, it is the most current, most succinct, most balanced, and most clearly presented volume to rest on bookshelves today on the nature of the Kingdom of God, an arena of Biblical truth that is still far too little seen. Jim Hylton does a masterful job of helping us move from a "revival" language to a "Kingdom" language with no guilt or shame for having seen too little, just a father's wisdom and encouragement that now, if we choose, we can see so much more. Jim's delightful enamor with the "bigness" of the Kingdom is evident on every page, and though the truth of where we have missed the King and His Kingdom is constant, it is presented with such grace that the truth never actually hurts, it just sets us free. You will find yourself breathing more deeply in your spirit as you progress through this book's life-giving pages.

Read this book, and as Jim Hylton would say, in his soothing Missouri baritone, let it read you, too.
