Hudson Hates School is a book about a child who hates school because he is having trouble learning. The book does a great job of explaining dyslexia and would be a great tool to teach children about what it means to have dyslexia. In the beginning of the book, Hudson dreads going because he fails tests and the other children laugh at him. When another adult comes in to test him, he is less than thrilled. But this test is different. This test has no "right" or "wrong" answers and he gets to use puzzles and blocks. After testing, Hudson learns he has dyslexia and he moved to another class with others just like him. Now Hudson loves school!… (altro)

Hudson Hates School is a book about a little boy named Hudson who loves doing a lot of different things but he hates school. His mother has to drag him to school. When he gets there, there's a spelling test. Hudson does terribly on the spelling test and he gets laughed at by the whole class. His teacher asks him to stay inside during play time so that he can practice his spelling. Hudson is then brought to a special doctor who gives Hudson a dyslexia test and it turns out Hudson has dyslexia. He is put in a classroom where there are other children with dyslexia and the teacher has a specialty in helping kids with dyslexia. Hudson decides school isn't so bad now that he has help with his dyslexia.… (altro)

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, Hudson Hates School, because it educates the reader on dyslexia. Dyslexia is a learning difficulty that Hudson has; he does not learn as efficiently as his classmates. This book explains what dyslexia is and explains how it makes the brain act differently than others. This book can educate students about the learning difficulty and how to be sensitive to other student's abilities.

This book is about dyslexia - the reason Hudson hates school is because of how hard it is and the way the other children think he's stupid. The author has dyslexia herself so this book has been created from a real place of understanding, she can help the reader to understand how Hudson is feeling. I think young children who are having difficulties with literacy, or who have dyslexia could find this book a comfort and something that gives them hope.
