Breve biografia
I am a structural geologist with a focus on earthquake hazards. I have studied geophysical problems ranging in scale from the hazards of particular faults to the construction of the Tibetan Plateau. I incorporate a wide range of datasets in my research, including seismic reflection data (either from the oil and gas industry or personally acquired), well logs, surface geology, rupture maps, and relocated aftershocks. I use quantitative fault-related folding techniques to interpret these data and develop realistic geometric and kinematic 3D fault models.
I received my BS from Caltech in 2005 and my PhD from Harvard University in 2011, where I worked on active faults in Sichuan Province, China and Southern California. I joined the faculty at NTU in 2012. My group is currently working on a range of research problems, including active-source imaging of the Main Frontal Thrust, Nepal; interpreting seismic velocities and faulting in the fold-and-thrust belt in eastern Bangladesh; historical earthquakes in Indonesia; and assessing the likelihood of hazardous earthquakes on large-scale regional décollements systems.

This is an awesome e-book that I chose to use with my 6th and 8th graders for one of our group science texts. It was pretty fun and engaging, with plenty of photos and diagrams throughout. I like using children's books when learning something new, even as an adult, because things are presented in terms that will make sense. This is no exception. The self-checking quiz at the end gave plenty of talking points for concluding discussions as we were wrapping up the subject. Of course, the hands-on activities were all doable with items from the household, which is always nice.… (altro)

Book two in the In Depth Science Book series, covers how mountains developed, their effect on weather, and species that live in the mountain. Several pictures and illustrations are provided. There is a self-quiz, five activities, and glossary that make it easy to incorporate the materials into class lessons.

The earth rotates on its axis giving us day and night. In this book, author Hubbard discuss how the earth itself is made of many moving parts called tectonic plates that are also constantly moving. There are 12 essay questions, an activity section, and glossary. This is the third book in the In Depth Science Book series.

Written at a sixth grade level, Author Hubbard includes several easy to do activities and a glossary that make this book on diamonds. Several photographs and diagrams are used to illustrate scientific process presented. Minor editing is need for punctuation and word usage, i.e. using an instead of a. The book also lacks a suggestive reading list or list of references.
