Flippin Amazing!!! That's all I can say... just... WOW. If you're a Tori Amos or Neil Gaiman fan (or both, like me), you need this book!

This is an absolutely beautiful graphic novel. It is different stories done by many different authors portraying their own interpretations of Tori Amos Lyrics. Seriously wonderful.

I love the idea of this book, but its almost frustrating to see someone else's interpretations of some of the songs. I found some of the artwork (Marianne!!) amazing and some of the stories intriguing...but again, I'm fiercely, stubbornly holding on to my own personal interpretations & memories associated with each song.

This book offered up a varied sampling of graphic artists. The book was something I could pick up here and there whenever I had a 10 or 20 minutes. The stories in the books are each based upon lyrics to various Tori Amos somgs, and as a fan I found the adaptions enticing and original. This is definitely something I would recommend to other fans of graphic work, Tori Amos or art in general.½

This is the single most amazing mixing of music and art that I have ever seen. The styles of each artist in this book are so varied. There is something for everyone with so many different methods and techniques. Seeing each artist's interpretation of each song is so fascinating. This book is like a little compact unit of highly compressed inspiration on the shelf. It is gorgeous beyond words, and has started many a conversation in my living room. Everyone is always so curious to know, "What is this Comic Book Tattoo??"

First, I am a Tori Amos fan. I grew up listening to her and she's always been one of my favorite artists. As someone who's also a Sandman nut and enjoyed Tori's appearances in those stories, I had some high expectations for this collection. And I did not like this book.

This felt too scattered. I don't think many of the stories were well-told... I would've rather that a few songs had been cherry-picked for this book, and then given more depth. It's all very pretty to look at, for the most part, and there are some good stories mixed in there. But they really begin to blur, even when I tried to space out reading the book. I didn't care about the majority of the stories, and several felt very conventional and basic (Precious Things, Beauty of Speed, or Siren for example). Some explore the stories within the songs, and others just go for surface meaning (Boo to Bouncing Off Clouds!). And others are just plain confusing (Toast, Sugar, Leather, Ribbons Undone).

Stories I liked were Take To The Sky, Little Amsterdam, The Waitress (this is a great example of a story that actually took some time to be told and it worked out for the better), Winter, Baker Baker, I Can't See New York, and Cornflake Cirl. Pandora's Aquarium was one of the funnier, more literal translations of a song and its goofiness worked.

And cheers for Paul Maybury's story for Crucify. A personal story with the song as background really worked... at least to me!

Quite a lot of great work in short spaces. Some fabulous art. Tori's songs are delightfully obscure as usual...but the volume suffers from a lack of index/table of contents. Fans of the artists or the songs can have no idea where to find the specific people/work/song they are looking for...and then there's the whole size thing--books should not hurniate their readers.½

Books like this make me happy that I'm a comics fan, over 50 stories based on Tori Amos songs by a wide selection of some of the top writers and artists from the world of comics. You don't have to be a Tori fanatic to enjoy the stories, as the lyrics to the songs are presnted alongside the story, but it is a real kick seeing some of your favourite songs transformed into something new and exciting. My favourite stories are "Winter" because its simply wonderful, "Bouncing off Clouds" because its just fun with great art and "Gold Dust" because its really sweet! I don't really have any real problems with the book, I was a little saddened to see there where more men working on the book than women, you would think with a Tori project that it would be a lot more blanced but thats only a minor complaint in what really is the best comics anthology in a long while. Highly recomended!!
