I really enjoyed this historical western romance. I received this for free and I voluntarily chose to review this. I've given it a 5* rating. This had a lot of stuff going on. It ended up with three miracles happening in this small town. Plenty of unique characters too.

I really enjoyed this clean historical romance. I received this for free and I voluntarily chose to review this story. I've given this a 5* rating. This was a real interesting story in many ways. First of all, Gunsmith is an occupation that I never really thought about, let alone read about. So with that woven around an older mail order bride and a not too young daughter, there is a lot going on in this story with a bit of a murder mystery stirred in the midst of it. Adding a dash of stubborn characters to it, makes it a hard to put down story. Stayed up late again, finishing this story

This book contains three short stories, and like m & m’s it’s hard to read just one, although different each story is based on some sweet romance. Each is written be a different author and as you can tell by the title focus on a ball where the women wear calico, and then the dresses are donated, and all of the locations are in Wyoming.
It is hard to choose the one I liked best, all are different, and when the final page was turned I was ready for more.

I received this book through Clean Wholesome Romance, and was not required to give a positive review.

Evelyn wasn't really a mail order bride, but unwed, pregnant and being shipped off unwillingly on the train to her uncle's house, she decides to throw her hat in the ring and get off with the other mail order brides in Prosperity, Colorado. Mercantile owner Sam is one of two bachelors who did not want one of the mail order brides, but when the other men start hassling Evelyn, he steps in and declares that he's going to marry her & claim her child as his own!

A Timeless Romance Anthology: Mail Order Bride Collection by Stacy Henrie

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Technically, I would give this 2 and a half stars, but it was good enough that I decided to round up instead of down. On the one hand, some of the stories were really cute. On the other hand the last two or three stories were each different variations of the other. And there were only four or five stories to begin with.
I waited too long to review, so like with much of our lives, what really stuck with me is the negative. It seems like the majority of the stories were about a mail order bride who ends up with the wrong husband- i.e. the brother of the man who "ordered the bride". And the falling love part happened before the marriage, which also seems contrary to the mail order BRIDE idea. What's the point of creating a mail order bride story if you are going to disrupt the ordering part of it? Why not just call your story "The Double Blind Date"?
That said, each story on it's own was really cute and sweet. (My favorite was the Doctor's Wife. It was everything you want in a mail order bride story.) But I would read any of the authors at least once more. I just didn't like the choices of the pieces put together for a collection.

A delightful collection of six historical Mail Order Bride novellas’, they are quick reads and each can be read in a single sitting.
All of the brides have fallen on unfortunate circumstances, and for some they have been accused of terrible crimes, and others arrive to find things are not what they expected to find.
I can’t imagine traveling a long way from where I live to a very unknown place, knowing no one, and end up marrying someone I have never met. Although, at least one of the stories end up with people who have met before, and another that yes they have met, but don’t see what is right under the noses. In other stories when the bride arrives, the groom is nowhere to be seen, will they wait for him to return?
These are quick and interesting stories that will keep you page turning, and moving right on to the next. Enjoy!
I received this book through I Am A Reader, Not A Writer, and was not required to give a positive review.

The Bride Lottery by Kristin Holt is a sweet historical romance set in the early western USA.
Evelyn Brandt has made a bad choice and ended up an expectant unwed mother. Her socially upstanding parents force her to take the next west-bound train to an uncle in California where she is to give up the baby for adoption and pretend it never existed.
On the way, she falls in with a group of mail order brides on their way to a mining town. Not wanting to give up her baby, she joins them, in hopes that she can find a better way.
The resulting romantic adventure is heartwarming and fun.

I enjoyed this book. It is a sweet romance, meaning there are no sex scenes. It does however, imply that both parties are experienced. It also illustrates the consequences of those mistakes which redeems it in my eyes. I'd rate it PG on the morality scale.
I've always enjoyed stories about mail order brides. The idea of an arranged marriage that works out is sort of fun. This one is no exception.
Over all I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars, and you know how stingy I am with stars. It's a good read.
