This was the first book from the Woodsey Newtown series I ever read way back in the early 70's.And remains my favourite! I have them all. They are of the period when "New Towns" were springing up in the U.K.
A community of animals moving into a new town. Very modern and up to the minute! Woodsey is like a proper town! It has all you need!!, A town Hall, a magistrate, postman,doctor and Wilf Weasel is the proprietor of the garage and an inventor.
The first main book introduces the building and setting up of the New Town, also the many great characters such as J .Scallywag Fox, Oliver Owl, Bungle Bunny, Magnus Mouse, Tom Tortoise (the oldest inhabitant)to name a few all have a book about them...They are told with humour and greatly entertaining! My grand children are enjoying them now!
