Excellent primary source reader dealing with the various Christian traditions of war and peace. Holmes certainly leans to the classical just war tradition; therefore, his selections reflect elements of his own position and only give a limited perspective on Christian pacifism (although there is admittedly more material on just war than pacifism in the Christian tradition).

A helpful element of this second edition is that Holmes has added selections to address war and peace within the contemporary, post-9/11 culture. Overall, this is an excellent book that serves as a great resource for those interested in war and peace from a Christian perspective.
