Creepy & Contagious
I always find short stories very hit and miss. Either too short, too long, too simple or over complicated.
These tales hit the mark perfectly with just the right length and level of creepiness.
My only complaint is that there are just not enough of them and I’m desperate for more in the same vein.

Stumbling along, you search for what you so desperately need . . . food. But when you find a trapdoor, your hunger and fear lead you into thinking you’ll find safety from an approaching storm.
You find a little room where a rat tempts you to have a meal. It doesn’t take long for you to realize that the form lying on the cot is nothing more than a skeleton, but when you explore you discover the Jeb-thing, rolling on a plywood board.
Are you the next meal for the Jeb-thing?

Readers will find themselves pulled into the telling of the tale by the clever way in which this horror story makes them the central character in this apocalyptic world. Although the reader knows that “you” is a child, readers have no reference to what created this apocalyptic world in which “you” exist.
Creepy and disturbing, this story is sure to stay with readers long after they’ve turned the final page.
