ourBooksLuvUs | 9 altre recensioni | Aug 20, 2023 | Many thanks to Random House Publishing Group - Alibi via NetGalley for this free Amazon Kindle e-book. Here is my honest review:
When I saw that [a: Sarah T. Hobart] had a new 'Home Sweet Home Mystery' I was excited. [b: A Killer Location: A Home Sweet Home Mystery|29916363|A Killer Location A Home Sweet Home Mystery|Sarah T. Hobart|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1460653886s/29916363.jpg|50295917] is a pleasurable read, and cozy mystery. In doing this review, I noted that Sarah T. Hobart writes under [a: Muriel Wills|7681964|Muriel Wills|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png].
The story line includes nosy but helpful neighbors. Body parts, and "those people" who come to open houses for free stuff. Sam's bumbling ex-husband is still in town. Max, Sam Turner's teenage son is a good kid.
I had several other books ahead of "A Killer Location," but went ahead and put dessert before dinner.
I love this author's work. If I ever get a couple of hundred thousand dollars, I will see if she can get me into a fixer-upper on the Golden Northern California Coast.
Sam is the type of person I identify with; not perfect, but willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
I look forward to further work from this author, and will recommend our library buy this series.… (altro)

ourBooksLuvUs | 3 altre recensioni | Aug 20, 2023 | A great second book in the series. This was a very quick read and kept me interested the entire time. I will continue with this series. I like the characters and the plot doesn't feel forced. Thanks to NetGalley for providing copy in exchange for my honest review.

McBeezie | 3 altre recensioni | Jul 27, 2022 | The first half of this book was sooooooo slow, it didn't read easily and I had trouble making it through sentences without re-reading them. Too many descriptions, and weird words that no-one would know, odd sayings that were confusing. A lot of unnecessary noise that I had trouble remembering who was who. The second half was MUCH better though! It was a big stretch how everything came together at the end - felt a little forced. I received a copy of DEATH AT A FIXER-UPPER by Sarah T. Hobart as party of a House Party in exchange for my honest review.… (altro)

I loved [b: Death at a Fixer-Upper: A Home Sweet Home Mystery|25937646|Death at a Fixer-Upper A Home Sweet Home Mystery|Sarah Hobart|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/book/50x75-a91bf249278a81aabab721ef782c4a74.png|45835017] by [a: Sarah Hobart|14172368|Sarah Hobart|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png].
This cozy mystery contains many elements of interest to me. "Death at a Fixer-Upper..." contains interesting history and plenty of mystery.
The setting is Northern California. Real estate agent and single mother Sam Turner is more than believable. Sam is raising a well adjusted kid, despite the hardships.
She has a shit ex-husband, a classic VW Camper van, and nothing comes easy for her. Nothing in her life is perfect but she is a heroine we can admire. She does not give up in the face danger and disappointments.
The writing is good. There are subplots running through this novel that are good seed for further adventures. [a: Sarah Hobart|14172368|Sarah Hobart|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png] has a new fan, and I will be reading more books in this series. I will recommend this for our public library.… (altro)
