Two orphan brothers from Gatlin, the town terrorised by the "children of the corn", are placed with foster carers in Chicago. The younger brother Eli (Daniel Cerny) brings a suitcase full of corn seeds with him and wastes no time in planting them in an abandoned factory. Before long He Who Walks Behind the Rows is in town and Eli is heading a congregation of murderous youngsters. "Urban Harvest" is a fun little movie, if you can buy into the ridiculousness of the fast-growing super corn and forgive some of the cheesy acting. Director James Hickox bounces things along at a decent pace, throws in some effective atmospheric parts and even manages to squeeze in a touch of environmental subtext. FX lunatic Screaming Mad George delivers some surrealistic and gory effects, which are always entertaining - despite a laughably unrealistic monster at the climax. A rural movie in an urban setting makes for strangely enjoyable rubbish.… (altro)
