Breve biografia
He attended his first singing school in 1905 with John C. Griffin, teacher. Later he studied with the late H. M. Eagle, working with Showalter's harmony courses six times, and graduated Feb. 17, 1910. He taught singing schools until Sept. 15, 1915, then went to Cartervilles, Georgia to engage in news paper work.

At the invitation of Homer F. Morris, president of the Parham-Morris Company, he went to Atlanta, GA. Here he learned to set music type and began to make song books.

The southern Music Plate Co. was purchased by Homer F. Morris and John M. Henson and in 1937 Mr. Henson bought the interest owned by Mr. Morris and operated the business under the name of J. M. Henson Music Co.
