Rose wants to change the world, starting with Greenhill where she lives, which is a dump already – and likely to get even worse if the planners have their way. So she joins the local action group, though her Dad warns her that’s just tinkering with the system. Her Mum tells her she’s just wasting her young life. Her friend April says she’ll end up a freak and on the shelf. Danny Malone scoffs – and that‘s worst of all. Because Rose really fancies Danny. Maybe she should forget all her ideals and let him sweep her off on the back of his motor bike.
But Rose can’t do that. When the group opens an advice centre which looks like being a flop, she takes matters into her own hands. She gets arrested – but she spurs the group into taking some real action. Action that provokes Danny into moving in against her and the group.
Rose is a girl with positive ideas and the courage to see them through. Her stormy relationship with Danny and the pull she feels between him and her ideals add to the vigour of this warm and witty story.… (altro)
