Written by a tailor's son,who became an expert poacher and who later wrote this account of his deeds.
It is recounted exactly as it happened in the spelling and diction of the man himself.
This is a man who it is easy to like and to respect.It is doubly enjoyable for me as Hawker writes about the English counties of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire which are both well known to me and I can picture them in the time of the writer.
