This was a journal reading assigned when I got my Master's degree.(2005) It concerned the building of the Transcontinental Railroad and the United Pacific's manipulation of contracts and monies. This "paper" is bound and almost like a book. To be honest, I only re-read certain sections this time, specifically the sections about Congress investigating U.S. President Grant and his VP, both absolved of any wrong doing. I also read previously highlighted text. The scam was that individuals charged with overseeing the building of the railroad (and paid good money to do so), formed their own construction companies that said persons then used to build the railroad; a real conflict of interest. 497 pages
