A "family" history of those who left Fair Hope, Alabama, to start a Quaker community in the mountains of Costa Rica, a country without an army, and how the community developed and expanded over the last decades of the 20th century and into the 21st.

In the 20th century Friends from the United States founded a settlement in Costa Rica so they would not have to American laws which conflicted with their beliefs. This is their history.
