Really liked this one. Lexie the career woman wants to let go with Dane, her assistant who likes to be in control in the bedroom. Jeanette Grey writes great characters and her stories are immensely entertaining and readable.

First - I love this cover.

Second - I can't imagine going though this scenario at such a young age. Even at a much more 'mature' age it was devastatingly difficult.

Third - Well written.

I have to admit that I was kind of annoyed with Kate through much of the book, but was more empathetic when she explained to Rylan what her background was like.

I'm intrigued about what will come in the sequel.

Not bad, but just a month or so out from reading it I can't remember much. I do recall some good feelings about how consent was handled, but I remember none of the actual romanc-y bits which isn't a great sign.

I'm not even sure I can form a proper review at this point, because I am just so in love with this book, I think I might start it over and read it again. I wanted to read this book, because the cover and the summary held my attention and I'm so thankful I got to.

"For Josephine "Jo" Kramer, nothing has ever been easy. When she earns a summer internship in Puerto Rico, working at one of the world's preeminent scientific facilities, she'll let nothing distract her. Not her own insecurities, not the arrogant scientists, and definitely not her tall, chiseled research partner, Adam.

For Adam McCay, physics is simple-it's women who are complicated. Especially brilliant, beautiful ones like Jo. From the moment they meet, he can feel the heat smoldering deep beneath her icy exterior. And Adam knows just what it will take to make Jo melt . . ."

Jo is not my type of character, I understand the bad boys or the minor characters that are brooding, but never the main character. I don't understand the mentality of brooding, I don't get changing an appearance to push people away, or being so defensive you don't let anyone in. Jo was a treat however, her brooding came with a cause, she was beyond brilliant, she grew over time, and I rooted for her from start to finish. Adam is exactly the type of guy a girl really does dream about, he wasn't just looks, he had the smarts and cared in ways a guy on a summer fling rarely do. I enjoyed reading from both perspectives, because they had depth, history, brains, and finally their relationship to focus on. That's what makes an amazing character for me, that they aren't so focused in the now that "real life" in a book doesn't exist. Plus, the minor characters brought the story to life even more, with drunken nights, meals, and trips in Puerto Rico when they weren't working. I felt like I was there, I could see the differences between all the characters, and how they fell into friendships and relationships during their 10 week interning at the world's largest telescope.

"She was a star. Maybe they both were. A binary system, two points of light circling around each other and spiraling closer. Drawn in by gravity, fueled by a fire as old as the universe itself."

The growth of the characters was incredible, Jeanette Grey could have easily been watching two young adults and just writing what she saw, it was that on point. The time spent focusing on the actual work being done as astronomers wasn't dull, I understood the setting, the character's goals, and how it all fit together in the end. I genuinely enjoyed every part of this, from start to finish. There was no insta-love or pure smut, it was a relationship between two people that grew like one naturally does. The writing was done very well and flowed perfectly for a multi-perspective book. I highly recommend this book, especially to my friends who enjoy New Adult like I do.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Forever Yours for providing an ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.

ARC Review: Nine Kinds of Naughty (Art of Passion) by Jeanette Grey

Dane is a complicated man. By day his focus is on business, hiding his true self behind business suits and corporate duties. By night he lives for the pleasure, releasing the untamed animal in his soul. A man of many appetites, guilt, grief and responsibilities are at the center of shadowy existence. Until he meets Lexie and his two sides merge into one. Lexie has chameleon like qualities of her own. A good girl driven by her career, she's hardworking. She hides her insecurities behind a wall of competence and distance but inside she's a naughty girl with a need to unleash her wild side. Will these two wounded souls be able to bring each other into the light? Nine Kinds of Naughty is a temptation, that is not to be denied. Ms. Grey seduces her readers while at the same time breaking their hearts. An entrancing combination.

Eight Ways to Ecstasy is a sensual overload of sexiness. I received an ARC of Jeanette Grey's latest tempting novel in exchange for an honest review. I am a new recruit to Ms. Grey's work. She has the shock value along with the spicy factor on her side with Kate and Rylan's story but I felt like I was missing something. Eight Ways to Ecstasy had me feeling like I walked in at the midpoint of the story and it was hard for me to catch up. It could have been that I had not gotten the chance to read book one in the series but I was in a confused state most of the story.

Very cute, and extremely naughty story about Will, the barista, who aunts and teases Jonas, the office worker, into spanking him. The antagonism Jonas feels from the guy is such that he cannot help himself and finally gives in to the challenge of disciplining Will. What follows is very hot, very passionate office sex with a definite promise of more.

If you like stories that are as hot a they are shot, if you believe that a little "discipline" can enhance the enjoyment of sex between two men, and if you're looking for a bit of naughty Christmas spirit, then you will probably like this short story.

Wow. This is some story. Tough to read, because it deals with serious illness and death, but beautifully written and very, very intense.

David is doing all the right things when taking care of his dying father, but finds the loneliness and stress difficult to deal with. He is so absorbed in his own problems that it takes a long time for him to realize he may need help. Even then, he has a hard time accepting it. This was described in very realistic terms and in such a way I felt what David felt. It made me understand a little better what someone in his situation might be going through.

Zev is a wonderful character, seemingly totally carefree and amazingly supportive. We actually find out why at the very end, and I really liked that explanation. It added yet another layer to the story.

If you like stories with depth and background, don't mind them to be a little serious and are ready to deal with some serious questions and the emotions this book will make you feel, you will probably like it.

This is the third book in this series. Although, it can be read separately. I like that Lexie is a strong and powerful woman, who commands respect. Yet, at the same time she is able to strip down and allow Dane to be the dominate one in the bedroom. Which, I admit that their sessions in the bedroom were spicy. It did not just start in the bedroom but on a plane. Talk about mile high club. Despite, the sexiness I did not react to the sex scenes. Additionally, the rest of the story was fine but I do wish that there was a little more meat to it. However, this is still a quick and enjoyable read. There is more to Dane than just a pretty face. I am glad that Lexie found someone she could trust in Dane. They are good together.

When The Stars Align is a beautifully written novel following the well-trodden route girl-meets-boy. Jo has landed a summer internship in Puerto Rico with a well known astrology observatory. A summer of telescopes, stars and hard work awaits. It’s during this internship Jo meets Adam, her new work partner. Jo doesn’t make the best impression – causing Adam to literally flip at their first meeting. In time, the unavoidable attraction draws them together making this the most memorable and transformative summer of their lives.

The novel grabs you from the very beginning with a story that is young adult in spirit but updated for adult audiences. It is a beautifully written story and features some of the most beautiful places on earth. Grey has an unique skill with the written word that causes her writing to be extremely emotionally charged. Her romance is realistic with extremely tender moments. I can only hope to have a relationship as caring and sweet as Jo and Adam (but with a quarter of the sex, damn).

However, I cant shake the feeling that this book was not written for me. I grew up in a very difficult home environment with very little affection from my parents. I suppose coming from this background and seeing Jo constantly make herself into a victim irked me. Instead of using her background to make her a better person, Jo wants everyone to treat her like she’s special because she wasn’t loved. I personally disliked Jo and felt she was a selfish and self-involved person. She is constantly complaining that others should be doing special tasks for her. Instead of letting the observatory know she’s a vegetarian she complains they aren’t feeding her and even harasses the organizer of the internship because she doesn’t get her way. Jo also complains that the other interns have had help from their connections to get them the internship, but never actually pays attention to how her coworkers are intelligent and skilled in their own rights. She bemoans never asking her father anything when, I assume, he foot the bill to Puerto Rico – a place many people could never afford to visit. I felt Jo needed a serious reality check and even after she begins to grow up I still hated her.

Regardless of my distaste for Jo, When The Stars Align was a magical novel about young love in a time of great change in life. Grey takes us to beautiful beaches, develops some unique characters and weaves a beautiful tale about coming of age. When The Stars Align had some really amazing moments that took my breath away.

My three star review is based on the fact that this novel is a beautiful, artistic work with real feelings. I think if I didn’t dislike Jo this book would have been pretty amazing.

This book would appeal to readers who enjoy romance, new adult, young love, stories about heroines coming into their own and tales about learning to forgive. I wouldn’t suggest this novel to lovers of clean romance or those who like their sex scenes to a minimum: this book is dancing a fine line between romance and erotica.

I won't lie. I started reading this book and really loved it. I was enjoying it so much that I just knew I had to stop where I was, go back and grab the first book, so I could read along with the whole story. I am so pleased I did, as I LOVED both. So, before you start this book, be sure you have read the first book. You can, I believe, read without, but you will wish you hadn't.

The characters in this book were excellent. I found their attempts at a relationship very real life. They weren't always successful, they didn't always make the right choices and they didn't always follow through. They were into each other and made a go at what they wanted. I liked that. I also loved what Grey gave us to go along with that...hot sex scenes.

We were given a very great story, from Grey. It is very real and believable, which made the romance in it a lot more exciting and fun to read. I liked that there was also a lot of thought and detail that went into each part of the story and the world.

The story itself was brilliant. It was entertaining, exciting and easily addicting. I read for several hours and still hadn't had enough.

Overall, I highly recommend this book, if you are in the market for something steamy and real.

** I received this book for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

Jo thrives to do better, to be better. When an opportunity arises for her to travel to Arecibo, Puerto Rico to do research on the biggest radio-telescope in the world, she jumps at the chance. Her focus is only on doing research, not making friends and certainly not a fling, who comes in the form of Adam.

I saw this cute cover on Netgalley, read “Puerto Rico” in the description and I immediately requested it. I mean, I live in Puerto Rico and this is the first time I find a book where it’s setting is Puerto Rico so I was very pumped and excited. Sadly, I was disappointed. Instead of talking about all of the wonderful things that Puerto Rico has, all the author mentioned was how hot it was over and over and over again. I did liked that the author really embraced and explained very well how the radio-telescope looks. I had never been and it is like… Probably an hour from my home so I had to search for pictures online and ask my friends that have been to it before so I could really picture it. The author also mentioned Mosquito Bay, Vieques, which has a bioluminescent bay that is so gorgeous! I really loved that she incorporated this into the story.

But what truly frustrated me is our main character, Jo. She made me want to stop reading this book a lot of times. I couldn’t connect with her at all—there was no way. I mostly kept reading for Adam and the other research students because they really were entertaining. But Jo acted like an ignorant woman for the most part of the book and would act childish at times. She was doing research along with other students. The girl Jo was rooming with always tried to be nice to her and went out of her length to invite her to their activities and Jo always kept saying she was better off not spending time with them… People who really were genuine and kind. As you can see, I was very frustrated and irritated by Jo. I just wish Jo hadn’t been so unlikable to begin with. There was some character development but I would have loved if she had gone through more development because it was needed. Adam was a sweetheart and a very down-to-earth guy. He really tried to help Jo in changing for the better and would motivate her 24/7.

I think the story was focused solely on Jo, instead of branching out more in her friendships and relationship with her father. I would have loved for the author to explore Jo’s relationship with her dad. Now this is a very big deal throughout the book but it is only mentioned by Jo. She doesn’t spend time with her dad or anything until near the end and it wasn’t much. Even with my rating, I would recommend this book. Just because I didn’t connect with Jo, doesn’t mean others won’t. I stated my reasons for why not liking her but others love characters like Jo so I still would recommend it. And I would still give this author a chance because her writing is really good and the way she describes a scenery is wonderful.½

What's more sexy than two studly college students who decide to have sex in order to alleviate a little pressure in their lives, but end up finding love instead? That's what I thought after passing up SJD Peterson's BAMF and a slew of other books I've enjoyed reading this month. In fact, I had so many choices that I'm late writing this review--which I've started a number of times with different books.

But Get What You Need by Jeanette Grey is the perfect mix of sex and sincerity. PhD candidate Greg London is shocked when hunky senior baseball player Marshall Sulkowski suggests they watch a movie together. Greg has been drooling over Marsh, the newbie in Greg's off-campus house, and never thought the popular jock had even noticed him.

The movie turns into sex and a loose agreement between the two for casual sex during the rest of the semester. Because both guys are so likeable and so well-meaning, the sex scenes are more than mere meaningless couplings, which makes erotica even more erotic.

Under a lot of stress to do well and get his PhD, Greg can't wait to shake off his blue-collar background and help his wonderful parents live an easier life.

Ahhhhhhh loved it!
I've always loved Jeanette's writing. She has this way with words that zing right through your heart. In this short novel, I felt part of both Ellen and Josh, and their feelings and wants and desires very much resonated with me.
This beautifully written, slowly revealed story tells us about Josh, who's been in love from afar with Ellen. And of Ellen, who's decided to let go of her inhibitions and be someone else for a week. The way they each find themselves and one another is truly sweet and romantic.
And I can't not give Josh the swoon he deserves. I was swooning and swooning and swooning... yum.

A short and sweet piece, perfect for Christmas time. Lib was extremely easy to relate to as a heroine, her fears and insecurities something that I think everyone feels at some point. And Matt. Oh, Matt. You had me at flecks of jade and tousled hair (my kryptonite).

Their journey was bumpy, but believable. The only thing I longed for was...well, more length. As it was, though, it ended on a very sweet note, and the epilogue had me grinning ear to ear.

This book had basically everything I look for in a good, hot read. A likeable heroine, a hot hero (who rides a Harley and wears black rimmed glasses and dirty talks just enough to be hot...HUZZAH), a contemporary setting, and a plot. I like sex as much as the next girl, but I need something holding everything together in between those romps. I loved reading the growth both Ellen and Josh took, and I liked that it didn't just revolve around their relationship, but outside factors, as well.

The bonus? I got my favorite age range. This was set in college, so I got my New Adult fill, but the sex was steeeeeeeeamy, so I got my Romance fill. Win/win in my book.

The perfect read for Spring Break. Or, you know, a Tuesday.

Unacceptable Risk opens with a kind of electronic poetry that is reminiscent of William Gibson's Neuromancer. I do not make that comparison lightly. Jeanette Grey grounds this story in a tangle dystopian future world where every aspect of life, even people's bodies, are saturated with technology. Unlike a lot of other sci fi writers Grey allows the reader to full comprehend this futuristic world and new human experience without bogging us down with buckets loads of exposition. Instead she skillful integrates technological terminology into the descriptions of how Plix experiences stimuli in her world and even in her own body. It is subtle, but incredibly effective at quickly immersing the reader into this world without causing a lot of confusion or slowing the pace of the story.

Despite the futuristic setting the heart of this story is the relationship between Plix and Edison. We see this in the very opening of the book, when Plix is at her very worst the first person she goes to is Edison, seeking his help and comfort. In her near unconscious state we get glimpses of Edison's own very telling behavior, in his tenderness while caring for her wounds and frustration with her blind commitment to her mission.

One of the things I love about this story is it takes popular fiction cliches and turns them one their ear. Here we see a gender reversal that is both refreshing and expertly crafted into something entirely new. Plix is the driven hero(ine,) haunted by personal tragedy, on a secret mission to expose a dark conspiracy. Edison is the introverted tech who nurses her back to health and pleads with her to stop her self-destructive mission. In most mainstream sci fi, noir stories these roles would be reversed and theses characters wouldn't be half as developed as they are here.

Edison is a compelling in his quiet strength, and determination to keep the woman he loves alive even as she chased her own death. His vulnerability (that is far from weakness) grounds this story in very real emotions. Even though Edison is in what would stereotypically be a woman's role (Moneypenny anyone?) he is anything but feminine.

In the same right, Plix has been set into a role typically inhabited by men, but never once does the reader forget that she is a woman. Her pain over her past and her struggle to compartmentalize her emotions in order to protect herself and Edison is endearing and heartbreaking to read. She is intelligent, strong, stubborn and extremely endearing in her desperation to do what is right, while protecting Edison.

How very refreshing to see a strong female character that isn't a bitchy cliche or a male character in disguise. THIS is how you write a female protagonist, like a fully fleshed out human being. I wish we had more wonderfully detailed female characters like this in every genre of fiction.

I'm going to be honest, I fell deeply in love with both of these characters, and this story. It kept my heart racing, made her giggle and gasp out loud. I was scared for them and cheering them on every step of the way.

While, it was sad to see the story come to an end, it was a satisfying and believable ending. I won't be sad for too long, since I'm sure to reread this book again and again.

I highly recommend this for both readers of science fiction and romance. You get fantastic book or an incredibly reasonable price ($2.66 on Amazon). It is worth every penny and then some.

I would also encourage any reluctant male readers to give this story a chance. It has all the same language and atmosphere of a traditional sci fic novel, AND it features a tech-geek as a romantic lead. Really, geeky guys should be hoisting Jeanette Grey on their shoulders and celebrating her portrayal of a sexy, compassionate, techno-savvy guy.

No spoilers here.
I loved this dark story, with its gritty world and hardcore woman MC. It took only a few pages for me to completely give in to whatever the author handed me—the voice rang so true, so fast, I bought all the tech and all the world-building at face value, as is, at once. That is quite a feat.

To FINALLY read of a strong woman lead character is for me truly a form of catharsis, to say the least. I love how she had a job to do, but was still woman all the way, without ever falling into the black hole of bitch/silly babe. She was real, a woman you can meet anywhere. A woman who, through circumstances of life, is having to act tougher and harder than most of us ever have to.

And a woman who gets the job done.

Then this author goes on to add a brilliant, brilliant male character, both the techie and the love interest, as it were. And Edison? I think I love him. Seriously. Love him. Someone who stands behind a woman on a mission, hands her all she needs to get back on her crusade, silently prays for her safe return, but NEVER stands in her way or diminishes what she needs to do. As I said in my updates, I find Edison to be the complete and total antidote to all the bullying-asshole-male-stalker-leads that are currently running around scaring chicks in the romance genre. (Scaring chicks I say, but they are really falling like headless hens, go figure).

Edison, you are a sight for sore eyes, a haven for thirsty and strong women. I salute you. And hope to see more of your brethren in the future.

I shall follow this author. Ms Grey has an interesting way with words and she paints a dark and convincing picture. One that is also filled with love.

As I said, quite a feat.
The only thing that bugs me is when a book ends at 89 %, and then the publisher fills the remaining pages with promos for other books from other authors. I thought there was more left of the story, and was really sad when it ended so abruptly.

This book is for men and women alike— and HOW many books can you say that about?

Kudos Ms Grey. This was awesome.

I was NOT asked to read this book by anyone, I paid for it with my own money, as I do for all the books I read, all the music I listen to and the movies I watch.
