This was a lot of fun—a little mystery mixed with sci-fi goodness and nice, splashy artwork. I especially liked the full-page depiction of the spider hound! I adored the Lohb and the way they talked, and the arrival of Nihinni was priceless—“who loves the infants”—so great!

Now this book is a weird one. It is something I tell you that. Not what I expected and with the knowledge that the writer was going through life struggles when writing this. His worldbuilding, however, is unsurprisingly excellent; Starport itself is believable enough and how the humans interact with the aliens keeps you drawn in. The humour is sometimes obvious, but it is not clunky. Humankind messing up its access to the galactic community is interesting to read about, and provides a humorous undercurrent to the book that is often funnier than the jokes themselves.… (altro)
