Crime and Justice Since 1750 is one of the best and most comprehensive introductory text for students or general readers in crime and criminal justice history. The book covers all the key historical topics that are central to an understanding of the current criminal justice system. It is co-written by two academics one a Professor of Social Justice and the other Senior Lecturer in History, which helps to break things down for the reader.

In the chapter’s subjects, such as the development of policing and the role of the victim are dealt with in the book as well as the law and the courts as well as punishment. As well as subjects, as diverse as Violence, war and terrorism and Youth crime and gangs, so you are given a broad view of crime and justice in Britain since 1750.

This is an excellent introduction for those with an interest in the history of the English and Welsh criminal justice system. It is easy to read packed with interesting information and not too dry, so it does not feel like punishment reading the book.… (altro)
