Being from Washington DC, I was really interested in giving this book a go. However, there is just too many far reaching, fantastical, BS choices this woman would make in her career. The story is too forced, too contrived, and it feels like something the devil incarnate Nancy Grace would broadcast as the next big thing. And to keep repeating "our heroine" over and over again, just cheapens what woman actually do in DC. I'm not thrilled.

Thank you to the author for the book. The book centers on Justine, the heroine, as she starts at the bottom of the political ladder, advances to a Senate seat, then tries for a Presidential run. She is supported by her constituency, and her husband, a furniture maker. Each step along the way provided much needed education, insight, causes, expediency, success, the path toward a better government, better way of life, "social security". The book was easily read, with a positive thread throughout. The ending is with Justine and her brother, Jack, meeting up in California, exchanging philosophies and life experiences. Justine-"I would hate to see others doomed to my same fate of searching for something that isn't there. What do you think I should do? "I don't know," Jack said, "Maybe you ought to write a book." I would like to see government and Presidential power retain its prominence, authority, and precedence in this democracy. Thank you again.… (altro)

A great fictional read about a woman trying to find a meaningful job in DC. This takes the reader into the government/political world. Though I don't normally like these types of books, this one drew me in.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was sent to me by www.librarything.com for my Kindle to review.

I had not come across this author before so was interested in this book. The authors background as he was a Special Advisor program at the US Secret Service to assist the Director and his leadership team with projects that make the organization run more efficiently.

I found this book to be enjoyable as the author tells the story of Justine who endeavors to find a post in DC.
Each part of the story takes her through a minefield as her journey progresses.

This book highlights the ideal way the Government should be run.
It highlights the way Washington is dysfunctional- I likened this to the way the NHS is run in this country.

I can see this in the top ten.

A great author and a great read. i will check this author out.
