Wow! I love this series and this did not disappoint! I cringed, I teared up, I wanted to hide under the covers, and I even laughed a time or two. Twisted tales is a good description. I can’t wait for book 4.

A great set of short stories by the talented author, Caroline Giammanco. The second book of the INTO THE NIGHT series does not disappoint. I laughed out loud at the ending of ‘Every Dog Has His Day’ so don’t expect every story to be ‘hide under the covers’ frightening. However, each story is a fantastic read that often ends with a twist. A must read, as was the first book in the series, INTO THE NIGHT.

Richard Keith Giammanco wasn’t a criminal, at least not your typical criminal. He never carried a weapon. He never threatened anyone. He was always very polite. This is the story of the Boonie Hat Bandit, a name given to him by the media, and why he robbed banks.

Excellent account of the judicial and prison system. Just finished reading INSIDE THE DEATH FENCES by Caroline Giammanco I don’t know how to begin this review. So many words are running thru my brain......amazing, powerful, forceful, thought provoking, fascinating, gripping, riveting.....I could go on and on. Few books have left me feeling with such a feeling of shock, amazement, and loss. Shock because I didn’t realize prison life (for employees and prisoners) had reached such a sorry state of affairs. Amazed that no one in the system seems to care, and loss because I finished the book. I was right beside Caroline as she began her job as a teacher in a Missouri prison, as she traveled to Virginia to be with her son who was injured in Afghanistan, and as she fought the system for her safety and the safety of others, as well as for the betterment of the prisoners. The book was like an old friend that I kept returning to after I did the necessary things in life. I give it 5 stars. It is a must read, especially for anyone considering a criminal justice job or working in a prison. In fact it should be required reading for all college students, no matter what major they choose. There are many life lessons to learn here.… (altro)
