From CBCA: "Bev and Kev is a story about not fitting in, perseverance, friendship and finally making peace with yourself, your friends and your place. A perfect picture book with lovely empathy between Bev and Kev."

A delightful story with simple rhythm which centres on a family spending the day together out and about. Strolling to the park they say hello to a neighbour, marvel at the orange bus, wave to a rubbish truck and point to the ducks waddling by.A story that focuses on everyday experiences and surroundings providing lots of opportunity for talk between parent and child. - Speech Pathology of Australia Book of the Year Shortlisted 2019

This book is about the rain that does not seem to be coming. They are anticipating rain, and they even see big, thick, dark clouds, but still no rain. In the end, the rain finally comes.

This story takes place in Australia, and features and Aboriginal community. Stephen says that it's going to rain. We see the lingering clouds, but no rain comes. The children have to endure the hot heat for many days. Finally, a big storm comes and quenches everyone's thirst.

I really liked how the hot heat and hope of rain really parallels southern Arizona where I live. I can really relate to waiting for a big storm and enduring many painfully hot days. The illustrations have the Aboriginal style, and are vibrant and inviting to look at. I would love to read this to kids during the summer monsoon season.

Picture Book

This book was hilarious! It's basically a collection of Dad Jokes, which are some of the best jokes. Apparently all dads tell the exact same jokes all across America, which is fantastic and amazing and a little weird. The book had cute illustrations of the father and son interacting, as the boy tells all of the wacky things his dad says when he thinks he's being funny. The illustrations were in a collage style, which was very interesting to look at. I really enjoyed this book and I'm going to buy it for my dad to read to my niece and nephew.
The theme was family and humor. I don't think it's a great classroom book, I mean it could be in a classroom library but I don't see many teaching uses for it, unless you were teaching about puns or comedy/ humor.

This is a very beautiful, colorful picture book that takes place in a remote Aboriginal community in Australia. In the book, a man named Stephen says that a "big rain coming" but several days pass before it actually does. In thos several days, we watch as both people and animals in the community deal with the heat. I really enjoyed this book and feel that it would be good for either a geography lesson or a lesson about weather.½

This book had me giggling with all the cute little jokes that the dad would say. This book truly portrays how goofy parents can be and the way that kids view them sometimes. Katrina Germein did a good job with this book.½

This is all about dad jokes. I think it's so funny because dad's do think they are funny with their corny jokes.

Beautiful pictures in this book! Very colorful! I would use it for Kindergarten and 1st grade. It would be a good story to read about when learning about weather. It tells a story about rain coming.
