Please remember. You get what you pay for. I was handed this book at a science fiction convention. I thought I could read almost anything, but this book defeated me. The author's knowledge of astrophysics and California geology are nonexistent. Not only are the plot and characters ridiculous, but the author has only a passing acquaintance with the English language. I managed only 40 pages of this slim volume. I kept reading only to see if I could find other gems of poor writing such as, "Luckily, no one got out-of-control and managed to maintain their sanity." Did the author manage to maintain his sanity or was his struggle with his word processor the element that pushed him over the edge? What about "That evening, my wife and I had just gotten back from doing a little shopping, followed by a delicious home-made dinner and boy, could she cook."? This sentence is an example of the overuse and misuse of dashes and commas. I won't even ask what possessed him to use four periods in his many ellipses. All I can say is, "All your punctuation are belong to us."… (altro)
