Contains the famous story of how to catch wild hogs [19]. Many authors express concerns about communism, tyranny, ad populum appeals, government abuse. Curiously, there is very little concern about the tendency of capitalists to monopolize, and otherwise distort market forces. For example, the piece by Chamberlin entitled "Modern Robber Barons" addresses the power of even small labor unions "to paralyze essential functions of production and transportation." [69] The Dean Russell piece entitled "Legal--but Immoral" sees voting as a "dangerous weapon". [74] Russel notes the "checks and balances against popular and hasty actions" established by our Founding Fathers. {He fails to mention that the the FF feared abuses of Power in the hands of tyrant "executives" and King pretenders more than enfranchised citizens. Where are the checks on the power of Enron? Is there any accountability for a rogue Vice President? Hmmm} Includes the brilliant essay of Ludwig von Mises on the "Elite Under Capitalism".… (altro)
