Nice little book about a boy who is suffering from depression but doesn't know that is what he is experiencing - all he knows is that he is feeling sad all the time and guilty because he has nothing to be sad about. Into his life comes a mistreated dog that he and his father rescue and this becomes the catalyst for the boy to open up to his very understanding father ( who has knowledge of depression from previous family members) and finally to his not-so-understanding mother who must stop herself from telling him to "get over it" and realize that her son has a serious problem that needs to be tackled sensitively and with professional help.
This novel is almost written for the parents of teenage boys rather than for the students themselves although it has a positive message that asking for "help" is the bravest thing you can do when you are not feeling right and the father reiterates a few times at the end of the novel how proud he is of his son for admitting he needs help.… (altro)
